Continuity mistake: When Epps is climbing up from the pool, she climbs halfway up. It cuts and her head is coming up from the pool before she notices Katie. Then it cuts and her head once again is coming up from the pool before she finally falls backwards. (00:32:20)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Epps is looking at the swimming pool, when she falls backwards from seeing Katie at the top of the stairs, there is a safety ring at the bottom of the pool. Yet later on in the film when Katie is showing Epps what happened to the people in the ship and how people were shot in front of the pool, there is no ring. (00:32:25)
Continuity mistake: When Sean breaks the lock on the chest you hear Jack laughing in the background. Then it cuts to Sean turning around. Then it cuts back to Sean breaking the same lock again. (00:41:45)
Factual error: The gold bars that the crew finds must be some new type of lightweight gold. There's no way that Julianna could stuff a gold bar in her back pocket and then pull it out and toss it on the table and Greer simply tosses it back and forth like it was plastic. A gold bar weighs around 27 pounds, you definitely wouldn't be tossing it around. (00:42:05 - 00:47:50)
Visible crew/equipment: In the scene before the Arctic Explorer explodes, Greer picks up the radio, and to the left of him there is a orange pillar-thing. In it you can see a reflection of a crew member walking from left to right across the orange pillar. (00:45:05)
Continuity mistake: When Katie tries to warn them not to start the boat you see a ghost suddenly appear and grab her with its head at her waist level. When it cuts you see the ghost's head at her face level. (00:45:50)
Revealing mistake: When Santos catches fire and falls over on deck, the fireproof vest is very visible on his right arm. (00:46:05)
Continuity mistake: When Epps jumps into the sea you see the Arctic Warrior is almost completely under water. When it cuts most of the ship is above water. (00:46:30)
Plot hole: After the small boat blows up, all the characters are off the big ship. They magically appear back on top of the main ship, but had absolutely no way of getting up there. (00:46:50)
Suggested correction: Wasn't Murphy still on the board of the big ship during the explosion? He could pull them on the rope or something.
What rope? They got up on a crane. Some soaking wet natural fiber rope from the 60s? What about the injured guy? Nah.
Continuity mistake: Right after Santos' death when Epps says "We're professional salvors with a fortune on board." to the crew, you see Munder holding a cigarette. When it cuts the cigarette is suddenly lit. (00:48:20)
Continuity mistake: After Greer has punched Munder you see him getting up. When it cuts Epps is helping him up again. (00:49:40)
Factual error: In the passenger list there is a note after Katie's name, "viaggendo solo", travelling alone. The correct Italian expression would be "viaggiando sola", in the feminine and not the masculine. (00:50:45)
Continuity mistake: In the scene right before Epps finds the little girl's skeleton hanging in the closet, she is seen walking down the hall looking for her. In one shot, she is wearing the heart locket; the same locket she finds on the dead girl minutes later. (00:52:05 - 00:54:25)
Continuity mistake: When Epps first walks into Katie's cabin, there is a straw hat underneath a suitcase on top of the clothes rack. Yet when Epps gets up again after looking at the dress, the hat is now on top of the suitcase without her having moved it. (00:53:40)
Suggested correction: Maybe Katie moved it?
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Francesca is seducing Greer she is standing at a shaft. She is holding her hand at a door post. Each time the camera looks from behind her her hand is somwhere slightly above her head. When the camera looks from the other side her hand is much lower, at the height of her neck. (01:02:00)
Factual error: The Italian words/phrases that can be seen on the ship doors, billboards, etc. are very badly translated. In particular, the phrase "Veleno di attenzione" in the flashback part, in English would sound like "Poison of Attention." The correct Italian translation would be "Attenzione: Veleno" (01:07:45)
Continuity mistake: After Dodge has shot Jack you see Jack landing with his knee up. When it cuts his knee is down. (01:15:15)
Revealing mistake: When Epps is holding the detonator and it is knocked out of her hand, watch as it lands - when it hits the ground the trigger is pressed in yet there is no explosion. (01:18:30)
Plot hole: At the end, there is an explosion large enough to destroy and sink an entire ocean liner, but Julianna Margulies, who was sitting right next to where the explosion went off, not only lives, but is virtually unscathed? Yeah, right. (01:19:00 - 01:20:35)
Factual error: A ship as large as the Antonia Graza going down that fast would drag down everything around it too, but Epps (within about 50 metres of the boat as it sinks) doesn't even have to struggle to escape its pull. In reality, she would have drowned. (01:20:25)
