The Majestic

Trivia: In the movie Sand Pirates the villain holds up a gold statue head. It's the same gold statue head that Indy retrieves from the Incan temple in Raiders of the Lost Ark and rumoured to be enshrined in Lucas's living room. The Majestic writer/director Frank Darabont is a close friend of Lucas, writer of Young Indiana Jones, and also rumoured to be writing Indy 4.

Trivia: When Jim Carrey leaves the bar that he was drinking in with the monkey, check the sign behind him - it says Coco Bongo. The Coco Bongo Clup is the new club in another Jim Carrey movie, "The Mask".

Continuity mistake: After Jim Carrey crashes the car on the bridge and, we see in the long shots that the lamp on the half-broken post above him is swinging from side to side. However each time we cut to a closeup of Carrey's face, it is lit very evenly - although the only source of light nearby is swinging wildly.

Peter Appleton: I thought this was a democracy.
Leo Kubelsky: The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, they're all just pieces of paper with signatures on them. And you know what a piece of paper with a signature is: a contract. Something that can be renegotiated at any time. Just so happens that the House un-American activities committee is renegotiating the contract this time around. Next time it will be somebody else, but it will always be somebody.

Question: How is it that everybody except Bob mistook Peter for Luke? Luke was well-known by the whole town so it seems kind of strange that they would mistake a complete stranger with amnesia for someone they've actually known for a long time.

Answer: The father showed a picture of Luke. Peter and Luke were identical twins.

I'm hoping that this answer is implying that Peter and Luke are spitting images, and not actual identical twins, as there is no relation between the two men. Adele had her theories that Peter was not Luke, and Emmett stated that he knew at the reunion party. The town is fooled for a couple of reasons, mainly because he looks just like him. But also because they wanted to believe it was him. The town had suffered a lot of heartbreak after the war, and this was some good news, while it lasted.
