Visible crew/equipment: When Larry, Ellen Brody, and a group of others are touring some people around the beach, showing them around, they look up to see Chief Brody in the watch tower, looking out for sharks. In the close-up of Ellen looking up at him, the boom mike bobbing around, is clearly reflected in her sunglasses. (00:41:10)
Continuity mistake: When Chief Brody is going into the water to get the large block of wood out, he leaves his shoes on the beach. But in the next shot when you see him about waist deep in water, his shoes are no-where to be seen on the shoreline where he left them.
Visible crew/equipment: After Chief Brody rams the police boat into Cable Junction, in the behind shot, shadows of the camera and crew members are reflected on the stern of the boat below the word police. (01:40:40)
Continuity mistake: After Tina and Eddie have discovered the dead whale on the beach, it fades to an overhead shot of the beach. On the shore there are three sailing boats, one with a white sail, one with a light blue sail, and the other with a dark green sail. Nothing else. Yet in the next close-up of Chief Brody and Dr. Lureen Elkins walking along the beach, an inflatable raft has now appeared on the beach, next to the boat with the dark green sail. (00:27:10)
Continuity mistake: When Brody arrives at the Grand Opening Ball he start fixing his tie and his upper shirt button goes up. When it cuts it's buttoned. (00:05:35)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film when Brody parks his van, the position of the parked van changes. In the first shot his front door is parallel with the front door of the van's next to his. In the next shot, Brody's van is now parked much further back. (00:04:50)
Factual error: When Tina's Joy is rammed, the boat moves away while turning. The boat, given the rate it was turning at and angle of the wind, should have tacked (the sail should have swung to the other side), knocking Tina out, but when it cuts away and cuts back, the boat has mysteriously stopped turning, and not tacked. Answer: For what it's worth, in the novelization the shark is a female and pregnant with the offspring of the first movie's shark, but that's not brought up in the film at all.
