Edward Scissorhands

Plot hole: At the end of the film, we see Edward carving ice sculptures in his mansion. How did he get the ice up there? First of all, it takes place in a warm climate and I didn't see a freezer up there in the castle. He couldn't have gotten ice from town because firstly he had scissors for hands and couldn't have gripped the ice. And, even if by some miracle he could, he wouldn't be able to buy any from town because everyone in town but Kim was convinced that Edward was dead, she told everyone that they killed each other. And Kim didn't bring it to him because she told her granddaughter in the end that she never saw him again after that night. So where did he get that ice?

Plot hole: When Edward gets locked in the room at Jim's house after the security alarm goes off, the police deactivate the system and the door unlocks. But how does he get out of the room? The door opens inward, so he couldn't have pushed it open, and he cannot turn the knob to let himself out.

Continuity mistake: Before Edward is looking at the family pictures you can see some scars on his face are open, when the camera focuses back on him the scars are closed.

Trivia: This role of Inventor played by Vincent Price would be his very last in a motion picture. Shortly after narrating and starring in a couple of television shows and a voice-over for an animated film, he passed away in 1993.

Question: After Kim kisses Edward good-bye in their final moment together, Kim runs away but you can see Edward taking a step forward while looking at her run. Why did he suddenly stop himself?

Answer: Because wanted to go with her, but they both realised it could never work out, like the story of Beauty and the Beast, except Edward couldn't turn into a handsome prince.

My brief fantasy is that Kim and Edward could hide their relationship until the "hype" died down, then move far away and find a doctor to "help" Edward - give him prosthetic hands. Mostly for disguise; not to "fix" him. However, the ending of the movie suggests that he does not age, so there would still be a problem when Kim grew older and died.

Answer: There's no definitive answer and any explanation is open to interpretation. It may simply have been an involuntary reflex, wanting to follow Kim but knowing he cannot and then stops himself.
