Continuity mistake: When Uncle Mark tries to shake David off, he throws at him from the top of a staircase three plastic buckets of different colours and a wicker basket. They fall multiple times in a different order across multiple shots. (00:30:40)
Other mistake: Ninja Master David does his knife-throwing parlor trick on Martin the Russian Mobster, freezing him in terror with his shuriken. They fight off, but the yellow jacket henchman distracts him. David manages to kick the macguffin box off Martin's hand, and you can see the box tumble a couple of steps away from the three-way fight. Still, Becky gets it in the next shot from the original hiding spot, without anyone in sight. David gives chase to her and the two old dudes but can't catch up to them. (00:29:30)
Continuity mistake: When Ninja Master David springs off the tree he vertically walked on to backflip over Martin, the latter tucks his head down, but is in a different position when David hits him. (00:29:10)
Continuity mistake: Tanaka digs up the box and opens it. His right hand is on the lock or on the corner of the box as camera angles alternate. (00:26:25)
Other mistake: To get to the hiding place of Tanaka's macguffin, both Becky and Tanaka are in the passenger seat of the car. The driver is never shown, nor referenced or addressed, and the car just sits there parked. (00:18:10)
Continuity mistake: When Becky flushes Tanaka out of the bathroom stall, the guy is hanging on with both hands when filmed inside the stall, just the right hand with the camera outside. (00:15:05)
Continuity mistake: During the comedy fight with the cleaning guy on a ladder, his position is inconsistent between shots a few times; the more obvious bits are the beginning (in some shots he cleans the ceiling with his rag and in others he does not) and the end (he is firmly atop the ladder in one shot and already halfway off when Hawaiian Shirt Guy knocks the ladder down). (00:13:00)
Continuity mistake: Inside the offices of the Russian mob, a trio of goons run away, horrified by Brenda's posturing. The blue tank top guy is the last one in line, but at the cut, it's the Hawaiian shirted guy to bring up the rear. (00:12:05)
Revealing mistake: When Brenda uppercuts the bad guy in a cerulean tank top, her punch misses by a mile, and the hit leading to that (when she grabs the guy's leg and spins him against an incoming attacker) had no momentum and makes zero logical or physical sense. Even the position of the table changes. (00:11:50)
Deliberate mistake: Several times throughout the movie, the same footage is repeated in a loop. For instance, Brenda punches Tanaka in the gut, then in the same camera angle there's a visible and obvious cut to the beginning of the same punch that lands again, three times. It's so apparent that labeling it a continuity mistake is sort of pointless; after all, it is shown deliberately. However, the sound effects inserted are three distinct and different ones, so it's not supposed to be a 'replay' but three different punches. (00:10:15)
Continuity mistake: When the Russian mobster inside his poorly guarded office tells Tanaka, "You can stay here for now," he's leaning with his temple against his fingers, but his hands were down in the previous shot. (00:07:25)
Other mistake: When Tanaka is kidnapped at the airport, someone shoots one tire and then the driver in the head - however, it's not shown nor explained who could do that, and in fact, it's inconsistent with what is shown after, in particular the direction of the shots (the tire could only be shot from the street, the guy from the airport).
Continuity mistake: In the scene of Tanaka's kidnapping at the airport in Taiwan, car traffic is inconsistent from cut to cut, such as a giant bus appearing and disappearing at the very beginning. (00:05:40)
Continuity mistake: When the master solemnly tells his disciple the name of the most terrifying martial art ever ("Hocus Pocus"), he does so facing away from him and with his sword pointed down. However, in the next shot, he is facing him, and only then does he lower the sword. (00:02:50)
Continuity mistake: In the opening scene, the master tests his student ("David"), nearly killing him with acid, as you would. During the scene, the katana is perfectly in front of David, except in the close-up where he grabs it, when it's in a completely different position - as made obvious by the pattern of the tatami. (00:01:15)
Revealing mistake: The protagonist's venerable master is an actor roughly his disciple's age, with one of the worst dye jobs in cinematic history to attempt to make him look older.
