Continuity mistake: When Zoolander, Hansel and Matilda are drinking the tea near the end of the movie, the "steam" in Zoolander's cup keeps on changing to from overflowing the cup, to half way down and none. This is without ever refilling his cup. He can even be seen blowing some of the steam out and next thing it's full again. (00:58:00)

Continuity mistake: When Derek was giving the eulogy for his model friends, they show him from a distance and there is a barge slowly going by in the river behind him, within a second they switch to a close up and the barge is gone. (00:17:05)

Revealing mistake: At the funeral when Derek is giving the eulogy a tombstone on the right of screen almost falls over in the wind. (00:15:55)

Revealing mistake: When the projector screen gets rolled up, the picture of the Prime Minister rolls with it. It's painted on, not projected. (00:01:00)

Audio problem: When Matilda is in her car with Derek and on her cellphone with the anonymous hand model he hangs up on her and you hear a dial tone, yet on a cell phone, there is no dial tone. (00:46:35)

Audio problem: The voice is the second female from the left, but her mouth does not move when saying "Perhaps you'd like to go back to turning out novelty neck ties in Hackensack." (00:01:45)

Continuity mistake: When Derek Zoolander is being interviewed by Mugatu for the first time, when Mugatu's assistant brings him his drink and Mugatu spits it out you can see the drink all over the top of his mouth. Then you see him right away after that and it is gone. (00:27:10)

Factual error: There is one scene towards the end when Matilda is talking to her assistant and two clocks showing the times of Tokyo and Hong Kong are visible on the wall behind. In reality Tokyo is one hour ahead of Hong Kong, but the clock clearly shows Hong Kong as one hour ahead of Tokyo. The Frankfurt clock is also an hour slow, assuming the Chicago clock is the correct one. (01:11:05)

Audio problem: In the "Daiye" spa, when Derek is telling Matilda about Derelicte being the biggest campaign in the world ever, You hear Katinka say "What is this?". But you can see that her lips do not move. (00:32:30)

Continuity mistake: When you see Derek leaving the funeral and Matilda says his name, there is a nubian female with gold hoops around her neck next to her. The second time Matilda says Derek's name, this girl is gone. (00:17:50)

Continuity mistake: When Matilda is being thrown out of the day spa and Katinka tell's K-mart about her outfit, the door behind her is open. The very next shot of Katinka, the door is shut. (00:32:45)

Continuity mistake: At the Derelicte show, Derek is getting his makeup put on. He has black eyeshadow all around his eyes and it kind of "stretches" down his face. When he comes out onto the runway, his eye makeup is different. (01:11:30 - 01:13:30)

Continuity mistake: When Derrick and Matilda arrive at Hansel's, watch Hansel's turquoise necklace. It goes inside and outside his shirt a couple of times, while talking at the door. (00:54:55)

Continuity mistake: When Hansel is rappelling down to the D.J. booth, he has gloves on. When he stands up, the gloves are gone. (01:14:35)

Continuity mistake: When Derek is cuffed into the brain wash chair and the music starts, the speakers bump. In the very next scene when Derek says "I Love This Song", they are not moving at all. (00:33:20)

Continuity mistake: During the 'Eugoogalizer' conversation between Matilda and Zoolander, look behind Derek, you see two men getting into a car next to the one Zoolander is going to climb into. As Derek is saying "Mugatu, if you knew anything" the men are about to get in but in the next shot they're already in the car. (00:17:45)

Audio problem: When Mugatu is talking to the designers, he says "14 days, that's fashion week, its impossible I have a show." That's not what his mouth is saying. (00:02:00)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Hansel, Matilda and Derek are in the kitchen, the morning after the orgy, everyone else is asleep in the background. Derek's mobile phone rings and then there is a shot of Matilda. Behind her you can see that they are now sat holding phones up to their ears, then when we next see them they are asleep again. This is because the joke where they all answer their phones was cut, leaving only Derek and the chef who answer theirs in the final cut. (01:01:55)

Continuity mistake: When Derek and Matilda are driving after leaving the walk off, the vehicle driving behind them is the same vehicle as when they leave the cemetery to go to Hansel's loft. (00:47:45 - 00:54:40)

Continuity mistake: In the Relax scene, when the girl says "I want you to relax", the first birds eye shot of her, her hands are behind her back, but when you see a close up view of her, her left hand is up. (00:31:45)

Continuity mistake: When Mugatu leaves from behind the desk to show Derek the model, the chair Mugatu spins does an extra 180 turn. The chair front is still facing the wall. (00:27:35)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Mugatu is talking to Mr. Ballstein, Todd gives Mugatu the phone to talk to Mr. Ballstein. The camera cuts to a shot where you see Mr. Ballstein in the bathroom. In the shot after that, Todd and Mugatu have switched places. (00:22:30)

Continuity mistake: When David Bowie steps forward to Hansel and Derek, he grabs his hands around their shoulders. As the shot changes from Bowie's face to Hansel's, his hand is gone from Hansel's shoulder, but after the shot turns to Derek and then back to the view of the three of them as it was from the beginning, his hand is back. There's a shot of the back of Hansel's neck with no hand, the angle changes to the front again and the hand is back. (00:43:40)

Revealing mistake: In the scene where they confirm it's a walk-off between Hansel and Derek, Billy Zane is shown next to Derek saying stuff to stop him and Derek says: "put a cork in it Zane." Billy mouths those exact words and then tries to hide it.


Continuity mistake: When Maury tells Derek Mugatu wants him for his new campaign, he points at Derek with his left hand. The very next shot you see his arm was never up in the first place. (00:19:50)

Continuity mistake: When Derek is being interviewed by a reporter on the red carpet, a woman with an afro passes behind Derek twice, without turning around. (00:06:22)

Factual error: They show the clock on the wall at 6:17pm, but when Matilda is talking to Archie in the office, the L.A. clock says 5:17pm. If they are in New York it would be 8:17pm. (01:06:45 - 01:07:30)

Continuity mistake: While Hansel is standing in the doorway listening to Matilda explain why they need a place to hide, Hansel's left hand changes a few times through out the scene, C shape & flat on door. (00:54:45)

Continuity mistake: When Derek is in the club telling Hansel "That's a walk off challenge, my friend," they are close together. When Hansel whips out the scooter, he's about five feet away, and then they are back together again. (00:42:00)

Audio problem: When Matilda is asking Derek about the magnum look, Matilda says, "Thats intriguing.", but you can see her mouth is still moving saying something else. (00:04:00)

Factual error: The film's plot revolves around killing the prime minister of Malaysia because he wants to ban child labour. Malaysia already has laws against child labour, and has since its time as a British colony.

Continuity mistake: While being brainwashed by Mugatu, you see the cutouts of celebrities pop up. When Derek does his first flip down the runway, the cutouts are missing on the sides of the runway. (00:35:05)

Continuity mistake: Before the explosion at the gas station, the sun changes between shots.


Continuity mistake: When Derek is giving his mobile phone to Hansel it cuts to a close up of Hansel holding the phone before Derek actually gives it to him. (01:09:45)
