Trivia: Brad Dourif ("Stan") and Jeremy Sumpter gave some input to first-time director Steele about the "look" of their characters (and maybe names?). Interestingly, the character played by Jeremy is "Jarod LEARY." Detective Fairchild's first name is "MATT." Matt O'Leary starred with Jeremy in "Frailty."

Continuity mistake: In the classroom, Jarod leaves with Detective Fairchild's business card in his right hand and accidentally (maybe deliberately) left the "Death and Cremation" book on the floor. Courtney picks up Jarod's book, apparently with the intent to give it to him the next time she saw him. Later, Courtney is reading the book and finds Detective Fairchild's business card between pages (like a bookmark). If this was meant to be the one the detective gave to Jarod, it can't be.
