Under Siege 2

Steven Seagal reprises his Casey Ryback role, in this second installment of Under Siege. Seagal and his niece(Katherine Heigl), are travelling on a train to California, when it gets hijacked by Penn(Everett Mcgill) and Travis Dane(Eric Bogosian). Dane plays the government scientist who invented a bioweapon for the goverment but was soon dismissed later. He fakes his own death and along with Penn, takes control of the train. Dane then takes control of the weapon he created and is offering it to the leading buyers. Penn and Dane look to have the whole control of the train, but they forget that Casey Ryback's on this train. An omission that unravels a whole plot of extortion and revenge.

Factual error: When the porter first gets ready to shoot at the terrorists (after Ryback falls off the train) he goes through a series of verbal instructions to remind himself what to do. The very first thing he says is "safety off". The problem is that the gun he is using is a Glock pistol. Glocks use a device called a "safe-action trigger" but they don't have a manual safety that you turn on and off.

Trivia: When the satellite destroys the fertiliser plant in China we see a 2 second shot of a steel tower collapsing into a ball of flames. This exact shot was used in one of Steven Segal's other films: On Deadly Ground.

Answer: I would say yes they where planning on killing some of the mercs. There is one fact that shows that. if they had plan on putting all the mercs into the copter, then the guys in the engine car should have know at x time get out and move back to get into the copter, giving the fact that they are still in the engine car when it hits the other train tells me they didn't know.

Chosen answer: Dane's speech was for the benefit of the hostages, not mercs. (It could be assumed that they knew he was lying.) Near the end of the film, a helicopter appears the train and prompts the mercs to board. The pilot's announcement of the first pickup (who was actually the porter) as well as the pilot's reaction to the fight between the porter and the female merc indicates that he expected to pick all of them up.
