Titanic
Titanic mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Rose is trying to rescue Jack she spies a fire axe. Smashing all the glass out from the holder she grabs the axe and turns round. The next camera shot shows Rose standing in front of the case with almost all of its glass intact. (01:59:25)

Continuity mistake: In the film, Titanic has a yellow stripe down from the bow to the stern, however the yellow stripe disappears from the film in some scenes, and appears in others. The main one is the sinking. (01:59:55)

Continuity mistake: In the scene you see Rose going down stairs, before she goes into the water she rests an axe on the door frame which turns to the side, yet in the following shot it's not turned to its side. (02:00:00)

Continuity mistake: When Rose leaves Jack's company to retrieve help, and goes to return with the axe, she stops at the stairway with the rising water and wedges the axe on the bars. The camera cuts to behind Rose to show her removing her outerwear, and the axe is still being held up by the bars but it's nice and straight, before and after this camera shot, the axe is propped in the bars crooked at an angle. Continuity mistake: After Rose cuts Jack's handcuffs with the axe there is no chain left in between the two wrist cuffs. There was enough room between his hands to stretch them across the pipe so there must have been at least a few inches of chain. Surely there would have been some chain links left on one side or the other depending on where she cut it. (02:00:40)

Suggested correction: There is a chain dangling from his right wrist (at the very least) up to the end of the movie.

Continuity mistake: When Rose breaks Jack's handcuffs, you can see the stunt person not wearing suspenders as Jack does. This is an inter cut shot between the raising of the axe and the striking of the cuffs. Leonardo's stunt double is noticeable in other shots throughout the film. (02:01:00)

Continuity mistake: After Rose breaks Jack's handcuffs they join some sailors to ram down a gate. A frame later, from the opposite angle, the gate's position is totally different. (02:03:10)

Suggested correction: You see Fabrizio stand the gate up to make it easier for people to get past.

Continuity mistake: Rose walks through the chest-deep water with the axe, holding it vertically when seen from behind and horizontally when seen from the front. (02:03:25)

Continuity mistake: When Tommy begs the steward to open the gate he is reaching with his right arm through the gate, holding on to a bar. When the camera angle changes the arm is hanging down. (02:04:05)

Continuity mistake: When Tommy Ryan, one of Jack's ship friends, is trying to get to the top deck, but is stopped by metal guard rails, at the beginning of the scene he has his right hand on the rail, then in the next shot he has his left hand on the rail. (02:04:05)

Continuity mistake: When the musicians go out on deck to play as the ship is sinking all they have on is their uniforms. They are seen this way a few times, in the last shot of them they all have on overcoats. (02:06:30 - 02:22:30)

Continuity mistake: In the "You jump, I jump" scene with Jack and Cal persuading Rose to get on a lifeboat, Rose embarks the lifeboat at the front, port(left side) side of deck top. Yet when Rose jumps back on the ship, she climbs back on in the middle, starboard(right side) of A deck where the windows change, running towards the bow to the Grand Staircase; while Jack is running towards the Stern from the Port front side of deck top. Jack enters the Grand Staircase from the port side of Deck top, and Rose enters the Grand Staircase from the port side of A Deck. (02:11:40)

Continuity mistake: When Rose is being lowered into the lifeboat, she looks up at the ropes, and then the camera alternates between her and Jack/Cal four times. The shots are only a few seconds apart. In the first shot, Cal's hands don't extend past the rail and Jack's are clasped resting on the rail. In the second shot, Cal's hands now extend over the rail and Jack's are completely gone. (The third shot doesn't show the rail.) In the fourth shot, Cal's hands again don't extend over the rail and Jack's are holding the rail. Jack and Cal are calm throughout, so would likely not have been moving their hands about. (02:12:40)

Continuity mistake: After Rose has been persuaded to step into the lifeboat the camera is on Cal and Jack for quite some time when Cal reveals to Jack that there is no arrangement in his benefit. During all this time the lifeboat is being lowered, but when the camera cuts back to Rose she can still make eye contact with Jack almost at level. (02:12:50)

Continuity mistake: When Jack and Rose are running through the dining room, both of them are completely dry and running up. After Cal tells Lovejoy he'll give him the diamond if he gets it back, we cut back to Jack and Rose and both of them are soaking wet, most noticeably Jack. (02:13:15)

Suggested correction: Part of this scene was cut from the movie. Per the site rules, Mistake between deleted scenes and the final movie are not valid as that's usually why they are deleted.

Continuity mistake: When Jack and Cal finally convince Rose to get on the lifeboat, Jack's hair is very scruffy with slight curls at the tips. When Rose jumps back on the ship, and Jack runs back inside to meet Rose again, his hair is perfectly straight and very well conditioned. (02:13:50)

Continuity mistake: When Cal is trying to kill Rose and Jack, then suddenly realises his diamond is in the coat, his fringe swaps from messy to perfect from frame to frame. (02:13:50)

Continuity mistake: When Jack and Rose are being carried towards the locked gate by the water, we see the water and Rose hit the gate in the first long shot and then the camera changes to a close angle of the gate and Rose and the water have not reached the gate yet. (02:15:30)

Continuity mistake: When Rose and Jack run through the dining room with Cal shooting them, notice that the floor is tilted to reflect the ship sinking. In the next scene when they run down the stairs, the floor is now perfectly level. There is no tilt to the floor. Notice how the water tumbles out of the door - it falls on a flat surface and disperses evenly with no angle to it. (02:16:05)

Continuity mistake: When Cal confronts Rose and Jack at the last lifeboat, once in a while when the camera is only on Cal, it looks like it is raining lightly, however, it is dry in all other shots facing others. (02:16:40)

Factual error: The lake that Jack told Rose he went ice fishing on when she was threatening to jump is Lake Wissota, a man-made lake in Wisconsin near Chippewa Falls (where Jack grew up). The lake was only filled with water in 1918 when a power company built a dam on the Chippewa River, six years after the Titanic sank. (00:39:05)

Chosen answer: During the several years it took to construct the ship probably, or in any of the supplies/food brought on board, or in the furniture brought on board. A single pregnant female rat can be responsible for thousands of rats in a very short space of time (the offspring are not too choosy about who they breed with).

A pregnant female rat could have made a home in a underneath a third class couch and had the other rats then all the females would have baby rats quickly.

Answer: In addition to the other answers, rats can easily get on ships by climbing the mooring lines that tie vessels to the dock and also go up unattended gangways. They can also use temporary overhead cables attached to ships while in port.
