Stupidity: When the crew go to New York they are in the back of a fish truck carrying fish. There's no need for them to do that. So long as the truck looks normal outside to keep their cover, they could have the inside kitted out any way they want. When they get to the fish factory they open up the warehouse in front of the workers to reveal the cars, so the workers are in on it being a front - it makes no sense to actually have fish in the back of the truck.

Revealing mistake: On the ice the tank is firing - in slow motion we see empty shells are littering the area. The shells have crimped ends, revealing them to be blanks.

Roman Pearce: Shut up, Tej.
Trivia: When Hobbs gets sent to prison, Shaw calls him Hercules. Dwayne Johnson played Hercules in a previous movie.

Answer: Well, we know that Owen Shaw was once an SAS soldier. Deckard Shaw has a file in this movie that reveals he saved a team he was part of and saved some hostages in the past. When Deckard Shaw refused to do the job Cypher wanted him to do in Furious 6 to steal the nightshade device, Cypher then went after Owen Shaw and convinced him to do the job. Cypher is the true mastermind behind everything that has happened in Furious 6, 7 and 8. So, maybe the Shaw brothers were good guys at a time before Cypher came along.
