Sleeping with the Enemy

Martin Burney catches up to his wife seeing her on the fairground ride with Ben Woodward and then follows her home. Ben tries to stop him but Martin overpowers him and pistol whips him into submission Laura knees him in the balls snatches away his gun and after calling the police to say she shot dead an intruder, guns him down. Dying he grabs her and tries to put a bullet in her skull but the gun is empty with a look of shock he falls dead staring at his wedding ring lying out on the floor, as Laura goes over to revive Ben.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Ben knocks on "Sarah's" back door with the apples, the sides of her hair are up and it is evident that there are no visible bruises on her face. However, the next evening at dinner, "Sarah" has her hair down and after moving her hair, a large, fresh bruise is observed by Ben. If this bruise was present, it would have been seen the night before when "Sarah's" hair was 1/2 up.

Trivia: In one scene, Laura is standing on the beach in a short dress. It was really cold that day and Julia Roberts (Laura) was freezing, so the film crew dropped their pants for that shot so she wouldn't be uncomfortable alone.

Question: When she discovers the cans are all in order, why doesn't she run out the back door which is right there? Why does she run to the front door?

Answer: There's no way to know what she was thinking or why she chose to do that. She was panicked and reacted on impulse rather than logic. One thought, going to the front door is the most direct route to the main street where she could get to a neighbor or find other people more quickly. Backyards are more secluded and dangerous.
