Continuity mistake: After her sister hangs up on her, Sue repeats in front of the mirror the self-help audio mantra. She suddenly holds the receiver in front of her chest higher than in the previous shot. (00:04:10)
Continuity mistake: After talking with Bullock on the roof, Batman is in his vehicle and talking to Hugo. On the screen, Hugo lifts up a glass to his mouth to take a drink, but when the camera cuts to a close up of the screen, suddenly his arm is lower, and he is once again lifting the glass to his face. Continuity mistake: When Billy is walking (from his front porch) to his Jeep, the ground is brown, and he has to take several steps to reach the cargo area. When the camera shifts to a front view of Billy by the driver's side door, and he says, "Hi, coach", the Jeep is parked too close to the house for Billy to have taken that many steps to reach it and the grass behind the Jeep is green (not brown). Continuity mistake: The appearance of young JR's hair has many inconsistencies. For example, JR's parted bangs (on the left) are long enough to hang part-way into his right eyebrow while he is walking toward the bedroom, but his bangs are well above his eyebrow when he is standing in the bedroom doorway. When JR is in bed that night, his bangs are separated along the right side of his forehead, but neatly combed together (no gaps) after a camera shift and contrary to gravity. (00:05:10)
Continuity mistake: Sitting (immobile) on the chair, the position of Humpty's head changed a few times. Sometimes his head was facing forward but other times it was at an angle. The height on Humpty's head relative to the top of the back of the chair also changed - from about 3" below to 4" above to approximately.even and 1-2" below. The size of Humpty's head also looked bigger at times. (00:41:31 - 00:44:59)
Continuity mistake: The white gift box was placed on the car's hood near the passenger side front wheel indentation. When the female cop (Valerie) turned around, the box was at an angle, not parallel, to the indentation. (00:02:21)
Continuity mistake: When Sami was having car problems, her bangs were mostly messy and longer, but suddenly neatly combed straight down a few times, such as after she slammed the hood shut, saw a shadow, and quickly turned around. (00:30:10)
Continuity mistake: Vivian is trying on a red dress in her dressing room when Lucille comes in to talk to her. Throughout the scene as the shots switch back and forth, the dress goes from being pulled up on Vivian's right shoulder, to off the shoulder part way down her arm.
Continuity mistake: The glass of Charlotte's orange-coloured drink fluctuates between about three-fourths to two-thirds full, including suddenly changing when she merely starts to bend over to pick up a utensil. After Charlotte drinks some, reducing the level to two-thirds, it goes back up and down. Wider views tend to be at the three-fourths level. (00:21:35 - 00:23:02)
Continuity mistake: The shirt that was hanging from the doorknob to Jimmy's room suddenly is gone when his mother Agnes moves toward him, but re-appears a little later when the camera shifts. (00:47:35 - 00:48:08)
Continuity mistake: When Fenn finds the doll in the tree trunk cavity, shadows are cast in several different (contradictory) directions. If Fenn's shadow was in front of him, he was walking west toward the dead tree; north would be to his right. Examples: The tree's trunk and one branch were casting shadows to the south moments earlier and Geary and the tree were casting shadows to the northwest a little later. Geary's shadow was cast westward when Fenn took his photo with the doll. (00:04:28 - 00:06:47)
Continuity mistake: When two officers go to inform Ronald Whitlock (Bruce Willis) about his sons, Ronald shoots his pistol at the Black officer and hits him near his inner right eyebrow. (A large black spot can be seen between his eyebrows.) When the camera shows the dead officer, the black mark is gone and the bullet hole is on his forehead centered about 2" above his left eye. Continuity mistake: When the terrorists take over the plane we see Eightball brutally stab a secret agent to death, and he gets blood on his face and clothing. In many scenes after this the position and amount of blood can be seen changing.
Continuity mistake: When Tom knocks down the bike at the car, the position of the fallen clothes changes between shots.
Continuity mistake: The napkins droop below the top of the metal holder while Papaw says a prayer, but suddenly extend above the top after he says, "Amen." The napkins fall below and rise above the top again. (00:22:50 - 00:23:20)
Continuity mistake: The pile of clothes Lea took out of the dryer and placed on the table were rearranged differently when the camera shifted to the opposite side. (00:41:52)
Continuity mistake: Before opening the door, the "M" on Eric's letter jacket is on his right lapel but on the left when he enters the room, as well as when he exits. (This is separate from the "M" being on his right lapel but on the left when facing the mirror). (00:40:09)
Continuity mistake: Joe has 'Rick C' (his partner) listed as a contact in his phone - late on in the movie when Joe calls him from the bathroom stall, he is listed as just "Rick"
Continuity mistake: The angle of the laptop on the kitchen table changed (and no-one was close enough to have moved it). The laptop was initially more evenly aligned with the edge of the (round) table. A little later, the laptop was not visible, but probably should have been. (00:04:09 - 00:04:44)
