Continuity mistake: Javed and his father are in the car and they need Javed's mother and sisters to help push the car to get it started. There is an ornament that looks like a traffic light hanging from the rear view mirror in the car, which can be seen in exterior shots of the car, but disappears when we are looking through the windscreen from inside the car. In the next scene after the car has successfully started, the rear view mirror ornament vanishes altogether.
Continuity mistake: Throughout the movie in several scenes the living room has 2 couches even up until the Parks are getting ready to leave for their camping trip, 1 big one and one small. The very next scene when the Kims are getting drunk, the small couch has disappeared. This must be to make room for the Kims to slide and crawl out from under the table. The strange thing is when the Parks come back home, they don't notice that one of their couches is missing. It remains missing until the end.
Continuity mistake: After being buried alive, Wake returns to attack Howard with a pick. There isn't a speck of dirt on him.
Continuity mistake: After the intro, the protagonist receives a phone call from her sister. When she turns around to check out of the TV screen, one of her fellow swimmers, with quite characteristic purple hair, is immediately seen sitting down. Back to the view from inside the locker, the same aubergine-haired girl is coming from the lockers to the benches, to go sit. (00:03:45)
Continuity mistake: The front view of Sheriff Garrett [Ethan Hawke] while he is talking to Billy shows a stone-walled well between him and the cabin door, but there's no well visible in the rear view. When Billy walks out with his hands up, there appears to be a well to his right (where the horse rail should be visible), but there is no well when Sara and Rio exit the cabin. (00:14:04 - 00:15:10)
Continuity mistake: The amount of blood on 10-year-old Miguel's face and neck after his "jump in" is not consistent. Sometimes there is more (or less) blood on his cheeks and neck and sometimes it appears splattered compared to large areas diluted with blood. The intensity/color of the blood also changes - sometimes it is very red but other times it is paler. The cut on his left eyebrow apparently was not on the far left corner yet sometimes the blood started there; other times, the blood started almost to the middle of his eyebrow. Sometimes he has blood below his eyebrow. Despite all the blood on his face and neck (down to the sagging T-shirt), there is no blood on his white or light grey T-shirt. He also does not get any blood on his jacket. Miguel was repeatedly punched then kicked by several large, muscular adult gang members for 13 seconds (to become a member of the MS-13 gang) but is unrealistically able to get right up then go and pick up and carry his dog - with no limping or signs of pain. Continuity mistake: For a second time in the movie, someone buzzes June on the intercom. She tries to overcome her fears and get out of the apartment, but can't. She shuts the door, leans with the left hand on the doorframe by the chain, and lowers her arm. In the next shot, Naomi Watts is breathing deeply still with her hand by the chain. (00:06:05)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, the waitress notices that Emilio for the first time in years has not completed his Sudoku yet. The sequence begins with her stopping by him and waving her hand, upturned, but the hand is then on his shoulder. She repeats the gesture at the cut. (00:01:50)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, the girl gets assaulted from the back: you see at first exactly from the shot from behind that the backpack she is carrying escapes her arms, but in the subsequent shot she is still holding it. (00:02:10)
Continuity mistake: Phil put 7 bottles of "Ouzo" in his basket (and left two on the display). When he was driving away, there were 11 bottles of "Ouzo" in the box on his seat. Continuity mistake: In his room, the gunman puts the revolver in the right inside pocket of his coat. He later draws the gun from the left inside pocket.
Continuity mistake: During the sign-up for the app at the beginning the girl says "I want to be Sarah." Look at her hair; mostly in front of her left shoulder, just a couple locks on the right side of her face. At the cut, hair behind the left shoulder and a bigger right bang. Continuity mistake: At the beginning of Aiai Liu's flashback, she is on a boat. Fellow prostitute Ping leans forward towards Hua saying he should treat them all fairly. Aiai she is intently cleaning a fingernail in one shot, immediately after she has the same hand placed on her cheek. (00:32:45)
Continuity mistake: Higinio emerges from his hideout to strangle with the measuring tape the man who is raping his wife. During the scene, the tape is above or below the shirt's collar and with a dangling loose end coming and going. (01:02:20)
Continuity mistake: The way Linda holds her coffee cup changes numerous times, often instantly with front versus rear views. The handle switches (changes 90° or 180°) from facing towards her chest to her left knee to opposite her chest while holding the cup between her bent knees, which vary in distance apart. Continuity mistake: Much to the photographer's dismay, Kate's husband receives a 'very important call' when they are posing at the beginning of the movie. The photographer's right hand is horizontal on the lens during his reaction shot, but he had it vertical on the camera body before the cut. (00:01:20)
