Best war movie mistakes of 1999
Continuity mistake: When Joan first meets with her captains in Orleans, they argue. She walks away and La Hire calls her "a helluva woman". As she walks away, you can see him looking at her. Immediately, she turns back, and he is now looking at the other captains as she walks up to him and belts him. He must have turned his head very quickly, too quickly to be caught on film.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Jakob discovers Mischa sabotaging the cattle cars and tells him the first news from the radio, Mischa is struck by a guard and knocked off the train, rolling to the ground. He is then bare-headed, but when Jakob runs up to him, Mischa's cap appears on his head.
Continuity mistake: Sean Bean is listening to the radio while he is in the shower - in the next scene he is exiting the bathroom with towels on so there is a time gap between the two scenes. However the monologue of the radio plays on through both scenes without any interruption. Actually, when he leaves the bathroom for the bedroom, the radio volume decreases, even though the radio is in the bedroom (he subsequently reaches over to turn it off).
Factual error: Hornblower's plan is to sail Le Reve south from Gibraltar to give him ample sea room before he heads for England. Generally, the prevailing wind through the Straits is westerly, unless there is a Levanter, yet Le Reve is shown on a port tack when it should be on a broad reach. The fog that comes up would not exist in a gale-force Levanter.
