Continuity mistake: When Julia Costello goes to leave Ned Campbell's hotel room he grabs her by her upper arms. She did not even flinch, which considering she had recently been shot in the upper left arm is a little strange.
Continuity mistake: When that one captain is refusing to obey the orders of Nick Nolte he says the time is 13:21 but his watch says it's actually 14:31. Continuity mistake: Whale commits suicide by drowning himself in the pool. When Clayton pulls him out the color of Whale's suit changes from black to brownish, and vice versa when Clayton throws him back in. Continuity mistake: When Marcia Gay Harden is doing the final preparations for the party that night, she and Anthony Hopkins have a dialogue where they talk about favorites and children. Towards the end of the dialogue, she hugs him and the watch on her wrist says something like 10am. A minute later she hugs him again and the watch now says 12:25.

Continuity mistake: After the failed accident, you can see Lola's bra revealed on the right side. After a cut, the shirt covers it.
Continuity mistake: During the ambush at the waterhole, the Arabs steal the Legionnaires' supplies by leading away the donkeys upon which the supplies were mounted. Why didn't the Legionnaires shoot the donkeys? Without them to carry the supplies the Arabs wouldn't have been able to take all before they withdrew.
Continuity mistake: Halfway into the film, Shakespeare is holding Viola's face placing his hands around her jaw, looking closely at her. When the angle is behind Viola, we see that her hair gets caught around his left hand's fingers. The angle changes to a wider side angle and his hand has no hair around, even though he hasn't moved it at all.
Continuity mistake: Near the beginning of the film, "Elvis" is driving Byron's car, and has a diamond horseshoe ring on. They show a close up of it as he's driving, and in a subsequent scene, the ring has been turned around.
Continuity mistake: In the scene on the Strip where Gonzo is vomiting out of the car and yelling abuse at the couple in the adjacent car, he vomits on the other car's window. After this, no vomit is visible on the window in shots from inside the other car. When shot from outside, the vomit is still there.
Continuity mistake: Toward the beginning when Philip Seymour Hoffman gets on the elevator with Lara Flynn Boyle, his tie is twisted all around but when he gets off, the tie has been fixed. He couldn't have fixed it because he was carrying two bags of groceries.
