For a Few Dollars More picture

Deliberate mistake: Near the beginning, Col. Mortimer takes down a wanted poster and goes after the man. The man he kills looks nothing like the man pictured on the poster.

Suggested correction: There is a similar situation in the UK produced western movie "Carry On Cowboy" (released 1965). Johnny Finger/The Rumpo Kid (Sid James) shoots the sheriff of a US town. The sheriff is related to legendary sharpshooter Annie Oakley (Angela Douglas) and she swears revenge. Finding that Johnny Finger is staying in a saloon, Annie Oakley sets up a trap on the staircase. Another person (an uncredited extra) inadvertently walks up the staircase, so she shoots him instead. As he falls down the stairs she calls out "I'm terribly sorry I thought you were somebody else." Perhaps Col Mortimer has made a similar mistake. Being less polite than Annie Oakley he does not have the good manners to apologise.

Suggested correction: Is that a mistake? (Either on the part of the people who made the film, or assuming this was real life, on the part of Colonel Mortimer?) They're a pretty bloodthirsty lot in this film, and nobody seems to really care who gets shot. Maybe he figures he can get a bounty for that person anyway.

Donnie Darko picture

Deliberate mistake: In the shot near the end of the film where Donnie grabs the keys for the station wagon, you can see a Blockbuster Video member card in a cup. That card design wasn't used until the mid to late 1990's. This movie is set in 1988. Deliberate as it's a product placement, but still wrong. (01:37:10)

Marie Antoinette picture

Deliberate mistake: In the scene where Marie is trying on shoes, a pair of powder blue high top Converse sneakers can be seen next to her feet. It must have been done intentionally, but since there is no trace of modern apparel anywhere else in the film (the closest would be the mere mention of hot pink dress fabric but, as it's not shown, we don't know what exactly Marie calls "hot pink") these shoes (and the fabric) can't be considered part of a thematic element or artistic license. Contact picture

Deliberate mistake: The slow rate of the radio telescopes at the VLA has been greatly increased for the movie. They are actually quite slow and make little to no noise.

Osmosis Jones picture

Deliberate mistake: The 'NNN' news program shows a picture of some animal crackers in Frank's stomach. The problem is, they are still all in one piece and are pretty big. I don't think Frank would swallow them whole.

A Clockwork Orange picture

Deliberate mistake: In the scene where Alex, after having been released from prison, is standing near Albert Bridge and staring down at the River Thames, the tide line, as measured by the bridge's support column, changes several times.

Pretty in Pink picture

Deliberate mistake: In the prom scene at the end, there is a shot of a couple dancing with his hand on her rear-end. A counselor comes over and hits the boy's hand to make him move it. He complies, they kiss, and he puts his hand back when the counselor leaves. The camera cuts away to a different shot, and then returns to an over-head wide shot of the crowd. Down in the lower left-hand corner you can see the exact scene with the couple and counselor being filmed.

A Beautiful Mind picture

Deliberate mistake: Winners of the Nobel prize don't give an acceptance speech - they usually give a lecture before the award is given, and then at the most say "thank you," or in Nash's case "money would be nicer".

Forrest Gump picture

Deliberate mistake: In the scene where Forrest is describing his heritage, the clip of KKK on horses is taken from The Birth of a Nation. In this clip, you can see tire tracks on the dirt road well before automobiles were supposed to be in existence. Robert Zemeckis decided to leave this mistake in to perfectly match the clip to the original movie.

Mulan picture

Deliberate mistake: During the movie, when Mulan is just a girl, you can see that her eyelashes extend beyond her eyes. When she is pretending to be a boy, her eyelashes are short (this makes perfect sense). But when she is in the medical tent her eyelashes are long even though she had no time to put on makeup. This is deliberate though, because without it she would have still looked like a boy, and just pulling her hair down wouldn't make her look any different (since that's how she looked in the pond). So they had to change her eyelashes to make her look more girlish.

Bullitt picture

Deliberate mistake: When Bullitt enters the hotel room to do a Recki, we see photos of the injured man on the wall. From this we can conclude one of two actions. 1: The ambulance crew took so long to arrive, the police had plenty of time to take a variety of photos from many angles. 2: The police did not let the medics in until they had taken their photos of a man who was in need of immediate medical attention. Wouldn't the injured man rather have his wounds seen to first than his photo taken?

Unleashed picture

Deliberate mistake: This was probably done intentionally to make them more visible, but the bullet holes left in the stairwell wall by Bart's handgun while he is chasing Danny during the movie's climax look to be about the size of golf balls. Typical handgun calibers aside, just looking at the size of the clip he's loading into the gun and seeing how many rounds it holds, those rounds would have to be much smaller than the holes the bullets made.

Suggested correction: It's a 9mm Glock18. The standard magazines have 17 rounds, the long ones 30. The holes could be larger because it's an old building and the plaster might break apart differently than modern drywall.

The Outsiders picture

Deliberate mistake: During the rumble scene there is a "Soc" whose clothes are completely dry and clean right before the Socs surrender. He's wearing a light blue shirt.

Ben-Hur picture

Deliberate mistake: During the chariot race, the chariots crash together but the arrangement of the horses make it impossible for them to actually collide. In some instances (particularly in an aerial shot as Ben Hur and Messala round the turn) it is obvious that they repositioned the shaft of the chariot to between the first and third horses instead of being in the centre between the second and third.

The Warriors picture

Deliberate mistake: In the scene where the Punks follow the Warriors into the bathroom, Rembrandt sprays the head punk with his red spray paint. However, the spray coming out of the can is clear, not red.

Hidalgo picture

Deliberate mistake: In the scene where Frank and Jazira are trying to escape from the evil sheik, as they ride towards the gate to leave the town, the gate is closed and bolted, locking them in. The bolt is located on the outside of the gate, facing the desert, instead of inside the gate to protect the town.

Exit Wounds picture

Deliberate mistake: When Boyd has saved the Vice President's life after chucking him into the water, Boyd looks down at the VP who is being dragged out. Suddenly, there is a picture taken that appears in papers, but there was no press or person on the bridge where Boyd is with a camera, so where did the photograph come from? (00:06:55)

Old Yeller picture

Deliberate mistake: At the beginning of the movie Mr. Coates tells his wife that he will be gone "all of three months, maybe four." The first time we see Bud and Elizabeth Searcy she tells Travis that her dog is pregnant and that Old Yeller is the father. We then see her dog that does not look very pregnant. The next time we see Elizabeth she presents Travis with one of the pups. The problem is that the pup that was supposedly just born is about 4 months old.

Fearless picture

Deliberate mistake: Within the final crash scene, in the shot where the flames are first shown exploding through the cabin, you can plainly see that all the seats (especially the aisle seats) are empty. In addition, this shot takes place after several shots depicting cabin breakage, and debris flying everywhere. Here, nothing is flying anywhere, and nothing is broken.

Miracle picture

Deliberate mistake: It wasn't Mike Eruzione shouting his own name that finally convinced coach Brooks to stop making the players do sprints. It was Mark Johnson, who smashed his stick against the glass in a fit of rage.

Suggested correction: This is not a documentary. This is a movie based on the events that happened. Therefore since it's not a documentary, they can make any changes to events they want.

I had the chance of skating with Ken Morrow and he confirmed that Johnson was the one who stopped the sprints. Morrow said the Brooks knew if he had gotten to Johnson, he got to all the players.
