Question: When Aragon and the others were a day's journey behind the Uruk-hai in the canyon, and one of the Uruk-hai was able to smell "man-flesh", so how is it that the Riders of Rohan were able to sneak up on the Uruk-hai while they are camped by the forest and the Uruk-hai not smell them?

Answer: We don't know that they didn't smell them. We just know that the riders found the camp and that there was a fight. If you read the books, it says that they knew the riders were coming, but there was no way they could outrun them on the plain; they headed for Fangorn Forest, hoping they wouldn't follow, but the riders caught up with them just outside of it. Obviously, some things are skipped in the movie, so it's a little less fluid. Check out The Two Towers, ch. The Uruk-Hai, about 1/2 way into the chapter.

Question: What did Samara's dad mean when he said, "my wife wasn't meant to have a child"?

Answer: She's infertile. She wasn't ever supposed to have children. It's hinted that she made a deal with evil forces to have Samara.

Grumpy Scot

I love your answer and share your opinion. But that's also why The Ring 2 wasn't really good because they made it official: Samara has been adopted. But, if we forget the second and third movies, there is an obvious hint that the Morgans require some sort of evil forces to get a child because Anna couldn't be naturally pregnant. Also, it could be a start of an explanation about why Samara is evil and why she got supernatural abilities.

Question: This is for all 3 of the movies. I know that they are filmed in New Zealand but are they filmed on the North Island, the South Island, or both?

Answer: Both. See, for example, http://www.tourmasters.co.nz/tm/content.cfm/ID/25.

Question: I don't know if this can be answered, but does Rose die at the end? And why does she throw the necklace into the ocean at the end of the movie? I have a feeling it was left unclear so everyone has different interpretations of the movie, but I was hoping someone may have information to give a definite answer to these 2 questions.

Answer: Rose does die at the end. She dies above the wreck of the Titanic and returns to the ship (metaphorically) with all those who perished on. I think she throws the necklace into the ocean because people should be interested in what happened and feel sorry for those who died rather than to look for treasures (my interpretation).

Kara

My interpretation is that she threw the diamond into the ocean giving her heart and the heart of the ocean back to Jack or the Titanic.

Answer: According to director James Cameron, what happened to Old Rose is ambiguous so that people watching the movie can decide for themselves if she is still alive and having one more dream about Jack or if she had finally died and is now reunited with Jack. According to the actual screenplay, "We PAN OFF the last picture to Rose herself, warm in her bunk. A profile shot. She is very still. She could be sleeping, or maybe something else."

Answer: The ending is left ambiguous. After lying down in the bed she either, a) has one more dream of Jack or b) has died in her sleep and is now reunited with Jack.

Answer: My interpretation is that Rose dies. Prior to Jack's passing, he makes her promise that she will never let go of the will to live. He tells her how she will go on to have a few babies, live a life full of adventure, and die in a warm bed at a very old age. He makes her promise that she will never let go of the will to live no matter how hopeless a situation may seem. After telling her story of Jack, we see her in a warm bed surrounded by photos of her life. The photos are of her family, a glamour shot from her time as an actress, a photo of her by an airplane, and lastly, one of her on a horse, at the beach, by the Santa Monica Pier. As she has fulfilled her promise to Jack, while also returning the diamond [as Mr. Lovett now sees the real value is that of life and no longer has any interest in it], she passes away in her sleep. The final scene shows her back on Titanic, which may also represent her afterlife, marrying Jack as only the people who perished in the sinking are featured.

Invader_Gir

Answer: She makes a copy of the tape and shows it to someone else within the seven days. This is the only way to avoid dying.

The One With Joey's Big Break - S5-E22

Question: When they are playing the game I dont even understand half the questions, maybe they are American-based, for example who are Simon and Garfunkel? Any explanations would help.

Answer: Simon and Garfunkel were singers Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon, and they were a folk/rock duo popular in the 1960s and early 1970s. They sang "Bridge over troubled water" and "Mrs. Robinson," but split up due to personal and creative differences. They had since rejoined with a recent tour together. A quick Google search would probably tell you more.

Question: In an interview in the Extended DVD Peter Jackson says at one time that they had cast the character of Aragorn "a little too young" and changed their decision to Viggo Mortensen on pretty short notice. Just wondering, does anyone know who they had originally cast as Aragorn?

Answer: Stuart Townsend was originally cast as Aragorn but after filming a few scenes it was deemed he was a little too young and Viggo Mortenson was cast as Aragorn.

Question: How did Jack lose the Pearl? I watched that part near a hundred times and still I can't quite catch what Gibbs is saying.

Answer: Barbossa was his first mate and instigated a mutiny, after which they left Jack on his island.

Question: I really don't get the ending of the movie. Nothing actually changes, the Matrix still exists, making humans prisoners until they are used as batteries and Zion still exists. But wasn't the whole point of Zion and its inhabitants to free people so they aren't used as power cells? The machines are still using people as energy and no one is bothered by that? Doesn't that make all three movies kind of pointless?

troy fox

Chosen answer: The Architect says to the Oracle in the final scene that those who wish to be freed will be. He is, naturally, referring to those humans still inside the Matrix. It is reasonable to assume that the people of Zion will continue to contact those inside the Matrix, and now that the Architect has promised they will be freed without a struggle, there is no longer a reason for conflict between the machines and humans. Check out this link from a user review who explained it in very good detail. http://movies.yahoo.com/mvc/drv?mid=1808402448.

Question: When Kate, Luc, Charlie and Juliette are all on the beach, Kate introduces Luc to Charlie. Luc then says something in French (right after he says, "Sweetie-pie?") which isn't subtitled. Can anyone tell me what it is?

Answer: He says "enchanté" - French for "it's a pleasure to meet you".

Answer: "Maintenant je comprends tout." Now I understand everything.

Question: What ever happens to the red car that Jjaks buys from the used car lot? He gets pulled over by the cop, and we never see the car again. Why wouldn't he go back to get the car to go to Las Vegas, instead of getting a ride from the bible salesman? After all, he bought it with cash, it's not like it was stolen or anything.

Melissa

Chosen answer: Yes, it does just vanish. It is understandable that we don't see it for the 2 remaining days of the main plot of the film. The car is impounded somewhere and Jjaks has a lot more to worry about than where the car is. He also has no money during those three days. A couple of possible explanations, excuses really : (1) the car was impounded by a private company, not the police, and Jjaks can't afford to get it back. (2) He did get it back. The Las Vegas scene happens 'several months later' and in that time Jjaks lost or sold the car.

Past Tense - S1-E4

Question: What time does Tru work her shift at the morgue? In this episode, she was at work when Marco scared her from under the sheet. Then she was eating dinner with Harrison. What time did they eat? Wasn't it already late at night by then? Then she was back at work - I guess a dinner break makes sense for a nighttime shift - and she met Luc. The second time the day happened, she was at work when Marco tried to scare her. Then she was walking somewhere with Harrison and she hadn't met Luc. Was this after the same dinner she had with Harrison the first time? Was she still going to meet Luc later?

DavidK93

Chosen answer: The next episode shows that Tru didn't meet Luc after all, even though she should have been in work by the time he showed up. I think the answer is that the writers don't actually know.

Question: Does anyone know what the small box Malfoy has in the Slytherin house scene (with Harry and Ron in disguise) is? Or whose it is?

Answer: That small box is just a present that another Slytherin got but accidentally left around and now Malfoy is stealing it. I believe it is just another way to show off his nastiness.

Question: Each time this movie is shown on in Brisbane Australia an important scene is not shown. The deletion is of the airplane landing at the airport and then trying to get air-borne again before the runway is destroyed. Why is this removed?

Answer: There are two versions of the film. A 'film' version which does not include this scene (and others) and a 'TV Miniseries' version. The miniseries version was made to run over two nights and extra scenes were shot to extend the running time.

Question: I was watching The Two Towers on DVD the other day and I am sure that I saw John Rhys Davies as one of the villagers that are helping to defend Helm's Deep. Is this true? It's not the spear-throwing Peter Jackson cameo - this character lifts a rock (or something) above his head and lets out a very John-like roar. Blink and you'll miss it.

Scrappy

Chosen answer: At what time? Peter Jackson's cameo (spear) is at 1:10:07 and producer Barry Osborne's (rock) is at 1:10:17. I couldn't spot another 'lift something over head and shout' shot.

Question: I am a big X-files fan, but there is something in this movie that I think I may have missed in the series - can someone help me out? We are told in the series that Mulder doesn't drink. One time when he is getting drunk in a hotel room on his own, it is because of a strange planetary alignment and he himself finds it odd that he is drinking. My question is, when did he abandon this and start going out and drowning his sorrows on his own? I'm confused - maybe I missed the memo?

Answer: Mulder has just hit rock bottom and is questioning just about everything at this point, so drinking is not really out of character.

Grumpy Scot

Question: What is the differences between 1st degree murder, second, and third degree murder?

Answer: First degree murder is premeditated, second degree is a crime of passion (i.e. murder in the heat of the moment) and third degree is now called manslaughter - accidental killing.

Question: Who is Conrad? Harry Conick, Jr.'s character writes him a letter at the end, and there is a Conrad character listed in the credits, but I haven't been able to find him.

Answer: I thought that it was Peter Kurten (Foley) that broke in and left the book. However if it was Conrad, then he does not appear in the flesh in the film.

Alan Keddie

You are correct. I just rewatched this tonight on Tubi.

Answer: Conrad is the man that breaks into Helen's flat and leaves the book. Happens just over 1 hour into the film.

jle

Answer: I don't think Conrad appears in the film. Earlier in the movie HC Jr says he has other "disciples"; Conrad seems to be the new recruit to replace the just-killed McNamara character.
