Magnum, P.I.

The Ugliest Dog in Hawaii - S1-E8

Continuity mistake: Shawn Hoskins is waiting at the gas station when she is approached by one mafioso posing as a 5-0 agent. In the establishing shot her hair is in front of both shoulders, but closer angles feature her with her left shoulder clear of any hair. (00:20:25)

Continuity mistake: The car chase from the gas station to the banana plantation happens with the mobsters driving two cars passing as one. The first car is a Ford Sedan with single headlights and front and back license plate 3F-2890, but the car speeding up in most of the shots driving through the long roads is a similar model with double headlights, different grill and without a front license plate (7F-7594 is the back one, but you may need to freeze-frame for this last detail). Continuity mistake: In the close-up of Sir Algernon Farnsworth barking immediately after the jeep's tank is punctured by the bullet, he's on a car seat with a plaid pattern, but the interior of the car, back seats included, was shown during the gas station scene as beige/sheepskin. (00:23:00)

Continuity mistake: Magnum and Sharon pass over the fence of the impounded pier (and Sir Algernon Farnsworth passes through it). There's no significant natural light in the scene, but when they reach the building at the end of the pier in the next shot, the whole pier they ran on is suddenly fully sunlit. (00:30:25)

Continuity mistake: When the mobster shoots TC's helicopter, he snipes at great range with a revolver and manages to make a hole in one of the chopper's windows, or so at least it looks in close-up, since there's no bullet hole in the other views. (00:39:25)

The Ugliest Dog in Hawaii - S1-E8

Continuity mistake: The position of TC's chopper on the helipad changes depending on the angle - in the wide angle with the camera pointing at the building, the skids are partially off the pad, they are within the boundaries in the other angle - and Magnum, the dog inspector and the dog hop on the chopper from a much larger platform in asphalt. Continuity mistake: When Rick exits Robin's Nest in the pool service van, there's a closeup of Michael and Steve waiting in their car. Michael is in the driver's seat and he's wearing a dark plaid shirt, but when Rick's van gets cut off the driver of the car is wearing a solid white shirt. (00:41:15)

Missing in Action - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: In the initial phase of the conversation over the phone (and the road) with Agent John W. Newton, Eric Tobin's hand shifts slightly on the microphone between shots (the position of his index is different), and in a much more evident flub, when he says twice "Delta One" at the very end he has no left hand at all on the phone receiver in the first shot, and does in the second. (00:03:00)

Missing in Action - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: Laura tells the story of the 'visions' she has of Eric Tobin. More and more engrossed, she says he keeps "falling and falling." Her long mane is off the left shoulder. Cut to Magnum for a second, and she's got hair everywhere around her face, only to have again face and shoulder clear of hair in the next change of angle. (00:09:10)

Missing in Action - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: Magnum explains that the "delta section" of the US Army does missions involving stuff like sabotage, assassination, terrorism (!). Laura protests saying "Eric couldn't have been a part of anything like that." She says it with hair in front of her right shoulder, in contrast with the previous shot. It switches back and forth again with the change of angle. (00:12:10)

Missing in Action - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: When Magnum stands up telling Newton he wouldn't give him the directions to Diamond Head, Rick in the background is leaning against his right hand in the first shot and has both hands on the file in the second. (00:22:55)

Missing in Action - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: After telling Agent John W. Newton to "go suck an egg", Magnum walks away...but no so far, because he is leaning against the railing just across. His right hand is far away from the vertical beam in the first wide angle, and on top of it in the next closer view. (00:23:00)

Missing in Action - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: Higgins and the other higher-ups at the King Kamehameha Club march towards Magnum after the shooting incident. Their positions change between shots - Rick's thumbs move from the belt to his front pockets and the guy with the powder blue jacket is behind the guy with the mustard one. (00:26:05)

Missing in Action - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: For the final confrontation with the rogue Delta agent, Magnum moves from the van where he (foolishly) left unguarded the bad guy with the damsel taking cover behind one cable drum, to another. He looks back in a close-up as he clings to the drum, and the van is far in the distance behind another drum. He then looks forward, towards the tower where the agent Tobin is hiding, and decides to move. Only, we see that his sortie is beginning from the large spool the van is parked next to. (00:42:50)

Missing in Action - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: Magnum runs away from Tobin's fire, ducking by a large piece of construction equipment. In the closer shot that follows, that element casts a large shadow Magnum repairs in, and that was nowhere to be seen earlier. (00:43:20)
