Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo Returns

Evil Spirit of the Diving Pool - S1-E18

Other mistake: In this episode, we learn that Kindaichi can't swim. However, the series is a continuation of the first one from 1997: in a few instances (the Ghost Passenger Ship Murder Case, The Kidnapping of Reika Hayami Murder Case, with Reika appearing as a key character here) Kindaichi could swim just fine and in fact would bravely dive in the ocean to save someone and swim downstream in a mountain river when gravely injured, respectively.

Inspector Kenmochi the Murderer File 3 - S1-E21

Plot hole: During the blackout, the people who will turn out in the next episode to be the killer and the victim say things (in monologue) and act in ways that don't make sense in relation to the plot and are merely meant to cheat the audience.

Continuity mistake: Kindaichi receives the keys of the building from superintendent Akechi. Notice the somewhat lengthy pieces of wire linking the keys to the large ring. When Kindaichi cracks the case and grabs the keys from his room telling Miyuki to go, the links are half the size they were. (00:19:55 - 00:20:45)

Audio problem: Kindaichi is listening to the recording of the phone call a couple times over; however he does not listen to it in a loop, but rather the file shows up as lasting 52 seconds, with the call being just a handful of seconds. On top of that, when he listens to it again in front of the building, the timestamps don't match.

Inspector Kenmochi the Murderer File 2 - S1-E20

Plot hole: One of the plot points of the episode lies in the fact that Kenmochi is accused to be the killer because only the cops had Busujima's phone number, apart from his two accomplices. That point holds absolutely no weight; the killer is a killer because he, well, killed someone, and that someone was exactly one of those accomplices. It's a fact that can't be ignored by even the most ignorant investigator, especially with the accomplice's phone being directly involved in the murder. (00:10:15)

Inspector Kenmochi the Murderer File 2 - S1-E20

Continuity mistake: When Kindaichi confronts Akechi in the corridor of the station about his decision to issue an arrest order for Kenmochi, you can notice two billboards; the one to the left has a single poster on it, and its height (compare it to the ones on the board to the right) changes between shots. Plot hole: The brief intermission when Busujima meets the 'killer', or at least the person wearing the hat, does not make sense plot-wise and is merely a dishonest way to trick the audience. It's not even something Busujima tells someone, so it can't be characterized as a 'unreliable narrator' device. (00:18:30)
