The Silver Surfer & the Return of Galactus - S1-E13
Factual error: When Doom puts out Johnny's thermite-induced flame, he tells him his body will expand in the vacuum of space until he bursts. While a human will body will expand in the vacuum of space, it wouldn't burst, as the skin is elastic enough to hold the body together. (00:12:12)
Factual error: After the building in the Rockefeller Center is pulled out from under its foundation, it falls through the Earth's surface for what Reed says is miles before it comes to a crashing halt in the subterranean ground. If a building of that size fell many miles through the Earth's surface and came to a dead stop in the ground, then the velocity at which it would have been traveling and the force of the sudden stop would cause the building to be completely destroyed, and everyone in the building that isn't a superhero would be killed from the impact. The Mask of Doom: Part 2 - S1-E9
Factual error: The American flag flying outside the university Von Doom attended has only 30 stars and nine stripes, when it should be 50 stars and 13 stripes. (00:14:59)
Behold the Negative Zone - S1-E12
Factual error: When the heroes fly by the World Trade Center after Annihilus and Blastaar have begun battling each other, the 1 WTC building is missing its spire, and both buildings are incorrectly depicted as being conjoined by what appears to be a multi-level walkway. (00:18:13)
The Mask of Doom: Part 3 - S1-E10
Factual error: When the Persians launch the boulder at the Greek ship, it falls short and lands in the ocean. The ensuing splash is far too small for the mass of the boulder and the velocity at which it landed in the water. (00:15:31)
The Origin of the Fantastic Four: Part 2 - S1-E2
Factual error: When Puppet Master takes a picture of the prison warden on TV with his Polaroid camera, the picture emerges instantly developed. Those types of pictures never develop instantly. (00:03:32)
The Origin of the Fantastic Four: Part 1 - S1-E1
Factual error: After the group has crash-landed back on Earth and Sue is saying "We're all alive," the moon behind everyone is far too large. (00:06:34)
Answer: Gleaned from the Internet: Much of the negative reaction was due to the poor, simplistic, and outdated quality of the animation where the characters moved stiffly and clumsily through scenes. There were also some obvious animation compositing gaffs. The animation colors were also criticized as being overly bright and cheery and out of character to the established story's darker tone. The broad humor of the first season was replaced by a more mature narrative between the characters.
