Sands of Jakku - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: In the very first shot of the episode, Rey and BB-8 are walking in the sand, and she is coming up on a giant sand dune to her left before her. Other large sand dunes are also visible in the background. Yet after that first shot, none of the massive dunes are ever seen again, and when they encounter the sand worm, all the dunes around them are significantly smaller. (00:00:23)

Continuity mistake: As Rey tells BB-8 that he can stay with her, you see the droid behind her from a frontal view. When it cuts to a side angle of BB-8, the lines and details on the side of it's head close to it's "eye" change with more lines appearing, the orange rectangles at the bottom become taller, and the white rectangle box moves higher up. Also in the side view there is some black cone sticking out of what would be BB-8's "face." If it's his eye it's now suddenly sticking out way too far and isn't that extended. If it's the little censor thing that is next to his eye then it's now on the wrong side of his head. (00:00:25)

Continuity mistake: When BB-8 hears the creature come up from the sand behind him, he stops. Just before he turns around the orange rectangles on the left side of his face to being almost all uniform in shape and size, to now having two big ones on the ends and two small ones in the middle. Continuity mistake: After Ray tells BB-8 to not move, we get a shot of them standing together. Suddenly, an extra line has now appeared on the heart-shaped part of BB-8's face going out from his eye. (00:00:39)

Continuity mistake: Rey and BB-8 are walking together, only a couple of feet apart. When the nightwatcher sand worm pops its eyes up behind BB-8, the droid stops and turns around to look at it. Rey is shown continuing to walk at her same speed and pace for about 6 more seconds before finally turning around to see the worm. She stops, and then the camera cuts to them together, and Rey is still only about a couple of feet in front of BB-8, but she should be several feet ahead of him by now after the droid had stopped and she kept walking. She even scolds him for not keeping up as she walks. (00:00:40)

Continuity mistake: The nightwatcher worm comes up out of the sand right next to BB-8's trail through the sand. After Rey identifies it and the creature is about to duck down under the sand, the trail BB-8 left behind has vanished. (00:00:45)

Sands of Jakku - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: Just before the worm bursts up from the sand in front of Rey, BB-8 is running away and then stops looking forward. In the shot with him alone, the yellow rectangle next to the heart shape on his face is lined up so the edge of it is almost right above the left edge of one of the orange rectangles under it, with the white above the orange fully. Then, in the shot with him and Rey together facing the worm, the orange rectangle has moved further away so the right edge of it lines up with the white one, with more space between the two orange rectangles closest to his face. Continuity mistake: When the worm rears up in front of Rey, there are horizontal lines on its underbelly. One of which is very near the jaw and intersecting with the "shoulder" of one of its little arms. In the shot where it's about to snap at Rey before she wedges her staff into its mouth, the topmost line has vanished. (00:01:06)

Continuity mistake: Just before Rey jams her staff into the worm's mouth, she pulls back with her elbows out. In the next shot, suddenly her arms are in a completely different position with both elbows down. (00:01:07)

Continuity mistake: When Rey jams her staff into the sand worm's mouth, she and BB-8 turn around and run back the direction they came from. With that first shot showing a second trail in the sand, BB-8 is leaving next to the trail he made already. Two trails. Then, when the sand worm slams down to spit Rey's staff back at her, that shot shows BB-8 and her still running the direction they came from, but now there's only one trail behind BB-8, the new one he's leaving now. The old one has vanished. (00:01:14)

Sands of Jakku - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: For most of the episode, Rey's outfit is shown having long pieces of fabric or cloth hanging off the back of her clothes like robe flaps and one in a sort of loop. Usually, when she's running or moving, these are flapping or blowing around behind her as you'd expect. Yet strangely, when she's running up to the spot where the sandworm just grabbed BB-8 and went under, the flaps are staying in front of her legs as she runs, but as she stops and the camera cuts, they are behind her again. Continuity mistake: In the shot where Rey throws her staff and it lands hitting the sandworm, the large sand dune that was to her left has disappeared when it was there a couple of shots before. And she did not turn her body, only her head looking around. (00:01:43)

Continuity mistake: After the sand worm drags BB-8 down under the sand, Rey runs up to the hole left behind. A couple of shots later, when she's looking around, still standing in the same spot, the hole and sand mound that she was next to have vanished. (00:01:43)

Continuity mistake: In the animation of Rey throwing her staff at the sand worm, her hand changes from being palm and fingers towards the camera to the back of her hand facing the camera in a single frame while holding the staff in the animation of throwing it. (00:01:47)

Sands of Jakku - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: Rey throws her staff at the sand worm's location to free BB-8. When she does, her robe has a large loop of cloth hanging down behind her leg. Then, in the next shot after she throws the staff, suddenly that extra cloth loop is missing. (00:01:47)

Continuity mistake: After Rey hits the sand worm with her staff, it rears up out of the sand and spits BB-8. Between shots of it coming up and then switching to a side view, suddenly BB-8's model is flipped like a mirror. Notably, the black marking on his underside is flipped, his eye and antenna are flipped around, and the blue slime on him is mirrored. (00:01:50)

Sands of Jakku - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: When the sand worm spits out BB-8 and launches Rey's staff, both BB-8 and the staff go flying towards the downed AT-AT walker. They start to separate in the air, with BB-8 flying further and faster than Rey's staff. Yet in the next shot, suddenly they are together in the air again. (00:01:50)

Continuity mistake: When the sand worms pit out BB-8, we see a shot of the bottom of a downed AT-AT Walker's foot. The "toes" are visible and are a single piece with the foot fused to it, metal on metal, and the bottom of the toe is smooth and flat. But in the last shot of the episode, the bottom of the foot is shown and here the toe is not a solid piece with the foot, connoted by a hinge and joints with space. It has grooves and details on the bottom that are not smooth. More sand also appears mounded on the foot. (00:01:51 - 00:02:44)

Continuity mistake: When the sand worm is punching up out of the sand to spit BB-8 out, several globs of sand are spraying in the air around it. In the side shot, the sand kicked up in the air has vanished. (00:01:51)

Sands of Jakku - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: After the sand worm spits out BB-8, Rey jumps on top of it and runs across its back. In this shot, the colours on the worm are a little different. Whereas in all other shots its armoured shell was an orangish brown with tan colours, now it's an almost golden and brighter brown colour with a hint of green tint to it. The rest of its body and head are also overall lighter in colour. There has been no lighting change between shots. (00:01:55)
