Corrected entry: Throughout the whole show, Kryten alternates between obeying Rimmer because he outranks Lister, and obeying Lister because he's a human whereas Rimmer is a hologram.
Correction: We don't know exactly what protocols he's forced to obey. It may just be in certain situations (Kryten seems to side with Lister a lot more when it's "Life or death", perhaps with a Hologram's decisions would be biased, since they're already dead) that he's programmed to do this. Also, considering that it was Lister who repaired him at the start of series three (and has repaired him again at least once since), there are likely to be one or two faults in him.

Corrected entry: In this episode Rimmer receives a letter telling him his father is dead, however in an earlier episode he said that his father committed suicide. He already knew his father was dead, so why was he so shocked by the letter? And for that matter, why did his mother tell him his father was dead?
Correction: He says "...before that rather unfortunate suicide business." The joke in it is that Rimmer's Father was saying that with a short haircut, you can handle anything, but then something came up and he obviously couldn't deal with it so he attempted suicde. Rimmer doesn't actually say that his father killed himself, just "unfortunate suicide business" which could mean he attempted suicide, but failed. It's a long shot, but possible, especially when considering Rimmer's usual poor choice of words and his tendancy to crave attention/lie about his family.

Correction: This is the cat. His heartbeat is literally a music beat. He spent over a day creating a special spacesuit when he thought he was going to meet women. Having perfect hair, no matter the situation, is entirely within character.
