Starship Troopers (1997)

Corrected entry: How do the "bugs" manage to invade the Earth? Supposedly they hurl meteors through space that land on Earth and cause massive destruction. But the bugs, even though they are huge and intelligent, have no technology. How could they harness the meteor, let alone make sure that it travelled through space accurately enough to hit the Earth?

Correction: There's no way of knowing if the bugs aimed the meteor at Earth, or even if the asteroid came from the bugs at all (and the federation just using it as an excuse to attack the bugs). And it is mentioned earlier in the film that the bugs send their spores through space on asteroids to create new hives. It could very well have been a completely random seeding asteroid that just happened to hit Earth, that was probably laucnhed hundreds of years before the Terran attack.

Corrected entry: When Picard enters the bridge of the Scimitar, he hits a Reman with his Phaser rifle. The Reman drops and Picard sees that the rifle is broken from the impact. In "Insurrection" we saw Worf hit a metal probe with a similar rifle, and his rifle remained intact. Apparently weapons of the future are somewhat weaker then ours and while they can easily withstand the impact with a metal probe, the impact on a Reman skull is too much and it breaks.

Correction: There are several possible explanations. Not all phaser rifles are the same, Worf may have had a stronger model (or even one customised for him to use as a mele weapon). The probe in Insurrection was most likely only covered with a very thin alloy and easily broken (they're not made for battle, merely to hover about). The Reman's skull may be incredibly thick, or maybe Picard's rifle was already damaged somewhat.

The Matrix (1999)

Corrected entry: When Neo and Trinity rescue Morpheus there is a massive amount of water coming out of the window. Surely if the window wasn't blown out the water would just flood the level if there was actually a fire. There is way too much water to be there from the time when the sprinklers started to when Morpheus jumps out.

Correction: Having heard from my father (and then subsequently seeing for myself) sprinkler systems, especially the kind that would be in an office block like that, are incredibly powerful, far more powerful than they look. The water level in the rooms is probably about right. The sprinkler system designers aren't worried about drowning people, because if the sprinklers go off, you're supposed to get out of there right away. And a possible drowning is a more acceptable risk than a definite burning of a tower block full of people.

Corrected entry: When the Nautilus is about to sink Hyde dives down into the ship and opens a shutter at the bottom. Miraculously, the water flows out through the shutter instead of pouring in, as it does through all the holes made by Gray's bombs. (01:09:25)

Correction: He doesn't open a shutter, he manually turns on the bilge pumps because the automatic switch was damaged by the bombs.

Scary Movie (2000)

Corrected entry: When Drew is on the phone with the killer in the opening scenes, the killer tells her to check the front door because she forgot to lock it. She then runs to the door and she unlocks the door so she can open it. I thought that the door was already unlocked.

Correction: The killer actually tells her to check the back door, which then then goes and locks. Then she hears the doorbell, goes to the front door, unlocks it and opens it.
