Almost Famous (2000)

Corrected entry: In the scene when Russell comes to William's house, thinking it is Penny's, confusion ensues as he begins to question where he is. William's sister, Anita, stands there equally confused as she gazes at Russell, looking as if any random person came to the house, showing no signs (neither speechless shock nor excitement) of recognizing the now famous rock star. Her reaction is completely inconsistent with her character given her fervent love for rock 'n roll. Indeed, not only did she serve as the sole catalyst for William's passion for rock 'n roll but she left home earlier in the film because their mother forbade her listening to it. Moreover, she'd just flown home with William following William's long tour with Russell and Stillwater. Thus, there is no credible possibility that she would not recognize Russell, making her reaction wholly inconsistent with her character.

Correction: It's entirely plausible that Anita is unfamiliar with Stillwater or is only mildly aware of them. As the title implies, they are, "Almost Famous." Anita may only have followed the biggest bands of the era and was uninterested in an upcoming "mid-level" band as "Rolling Stone" magazine describes them. William may have told her about his adventures on the road with them, but that does not mean she knows what the band members look like. She's also been a flight attendant for a few years, and may not follow rock bands as when she was teenager. Stillwater was not even a notable mid-level band when Anita left home.

Corrected entry: The group was in the ocean for at least 4-6 hours. Only Amy wore a life jacket. With the exception of a few characters holding onto the dual mooring hooks at the stern for a few minutes, they all were along the side of the boat treading water for the entirety of the many hours in the water. Elite Coast Guard rescue swimmers would be lucky to exhibit such stamina over such an extended period of time.

Correction: Treading water for 4-6 hours is possible.

Possible for elite water polo players and coast guard rescue teams. For a bunch of party goers off a day trip? No.

WarGames (1983)

Corrected entry: In the scene at NORAD when officials are trying to figure out what happened with the initial security breach, Paul says to McKittrick that the perpetrator broke in using a backdoor left in by the original programmer (i.e., Falken's password "Joshua"). That meeting also reveals that they took the backdoor out, but that the guy broke in again (note that David did not intentionally break in again - Joshua called David). The error comes when David is left alone in McKittrick's office in a later scene and proceeds to login using "Joshua." That password was gone by then (just as it is at the end when Falken tries to use it).

Correction: While the original back door was removed, Joshua demonstrated remarkable initiative by contacting David. Joshua would certainly want to reinstall the back door if he wanted to give David access, and might have closed it down again himself later when he did not want to be distracted.

Good explanation and very possible.
