Continuity mistake: After Zeb and Matthew's visit to the Baldwin sisters, when the singing duo arrive at Godsey's store while everyone is watching, the man driving is wearing a different shirt than Zeb and is considerably younger. (00:35:05)

Continuity mistake: When John borrows Vern's blue car to search for Olivia and the kids, its license plate number is "45-2678" in wide shots, but when John-Boy spots their truck at the side of the road John stops short, and the license plate number is "84-6209" in the closeup. (00:17:10 - 00:18:45)

Continuity mistake: When Ben first sees The Fox in the box trap and rushes over, both the y-branch and straight branch are lying atop the box, but as Ben kneels down now the y-branch is instantly upright with the straight branch still lying beside it, then Ben's siblings run over. (In the next shot, as Mary Ellen mentions Carol Lombarde, the box trap is suddenly set atop two saw horses with the two branches set in their trapping positions. This change is quite abrubt between the two shots and presented as if they have not moved). (00:29:40)

Continuity mistake: When the telephone rings Olivia walks over to answer it and the front door is open (we see the screen door), but when everyone rushes from the table and gathers around Olivia, the front door is now shut. (00:28:50)

Continuity mistake: After the rock is thrown, when John-Boy is looking through the broken window while holding the rock he's wearing grey pleated trousers, but it cuts to a closeup of the rock in John-Boy's hands and now he's wearing what looks like blue jeans, plus the hands holding the rock look nothing like John-Boy's hands. Continuity mistake: When Erin balances a book on her head as she walks around the table, the title on The Book's spine is at Erin's right side, but it cuts to her closeup and between shots the spine is flipped over with the title at Erin's left side. (00:09:15)

Continuity mistake: When Verdie and Olivia are at Godsey's with their grandchildren, in Verdie's closeup as she asks Ike to move Jody's name to its proper place on the honor roll board, the grocery bag top is folded toward her, but in the wideshots the bag top is folded away from her. Additionally, while Verdie and Olivia are in the store, Harriet has a blue lollipop and John Curtis is licking a red lollipop, but when Verdie and Olivia leave the store in the exterior shot, Harriet is holding a red lollipop and John Curtis is holding a blue one. Continuity mistake: In this episode Olivia states that she conceived one month after getting married. Olivia asks John if he remembers that summer when just the two of them went camping up on the mountain, and they both recall that it was their one month anniversary after eloping. Olivia also says that she knew later that night, "That there's some kind of miracle happening inside me," and even felt that it was a boy - John-Boy, their eldest child. The problem is, in 8x1 "The Homefront," when Cindy joins Olivia in the garden, Cindy asks, "How long was it before you knew you were expecting John-Boy?" and Olivia replies, "About two years, but everybody is different..." Continuity mistake: When Olivia asks John to go with them to Sunday services, in the wideshots Erin is sitting on the arm chair and Jim-Bob is rocking away in the rocking chair, but in the few shots facing John or Zeb we see the rocking chair and arm chair are empty. (00:04:10)

Continuity mistake: The Baldwin sisters buy Olivia a wooden wheelchair, and when Zeb brings it into the bedroom the camera tilts downward and we see Zeb's legs behind the chair. Later, after Mary Ellen and G.W. dance for Olivia it cuts to a closeup of the wheelchair, but it's actually the earlier shot because we still see Zeb's legs and he's not even in the room. Continuity mistake: When John-Boy goes to Sarah's house to pick her up for the double-feature picture show, he tells her mother good morning and we see the shadows being cast outside The House. Later, after the double feature, when John-Boy and Sarah get back to her house in the afternoon, all of the shadows are still being cast in precisely the same direction as that morning, which is impossible. Also, in Sarah's closeup after she gets out of the truck and when John-Boy rushes after her, the white fence's shadow is completely different than the previous and following wideshots. Continuity mistake: When Sarah leaves with Ted in the LaSalle Coupe so they can get married, the mirror attached to the top of the windshield disappears and reappears in some shots during their drive. (00:36:10)

Continuity mistake: After Emily Baldwin makes the lemonade toast, when it cuts to the Walton house John-Boy tells everyone to close their eyes. In Olivia's closeup we can see the wheeled metal legs of the washing machine base between her and Elizabeth, but it's not until three shots later that Ike and John bring the machine in from the porch. Continuity mistake: When Mary Ellen tells Olivia that Esther changed her mind about going out, Olivia has a dark ponytail holder in her hair when she walks into Esther's bedroom with the hatbox, but in the next shot as Olivia talks to Esther the ponytail holder is now white. (00:25:10)

Continuity mistake: When John gets back from the business trip, in the exterior shot he carries one suitcase up the steps then enters the home, but in the interior shot as he walks inside it's a different suitcase. (00:09:05)
