Question: Why didn't the Mariners' boat sink? At the start of the film, he tells the drifter that the hull is busted and the hole's so big there's room to breathe. Later on, after the atoll, he states to Helen that his boat is tore up and it's taking on water. Not once do we see him pumping water out of the boat, nor do we see any water inside the boat until after the smokers burn it.

Question: Why doesn't the guy in the truck just turn the turrets to face the sky or something when the Mariner is pulling the gun boat into the deacon's boat or hell even turn the engine off meaning the gun has no power! He was reaching through the cab trying to get the guys attention so it's not like absolutely no-one on the gun boat was unaware of what was going on.
Answer: The guy behind the wheel had no control over the gun's movement. It was done by the gunner, as seen in the beginning where he tested the controls. We don't know that he would have been able to shut off the power to the guns either.

Question: How did the Smokers track down the Mariners boat whilst they dived to the city? The Deacon shoots the Mariner and then when he notices that he's bleeding he says "Bring me the trackers " Whilst the Mariner and Helen are underwater, Enola sees something that looks like shark fins go under the boat.
Answer: It seems the Smokers have either trained or bred sharks for the purpose of tracking enemies by the scent of blood in the water.

Question: Where and why did Gregor go? If he was going in search of dry land, why has he not gone earlier? Why did the mariner not try to find him, as he could have been a useful person to have on the boat and was a friend of the females? Why did the smoker's plane not shoot down Gregor?
Answer: Lot of questions here. 1) Gregor was building the airship to find Dryland and he left to get away from the Smokers. 2) He didn't go earlier because he wanted to be able to figure out the map on Enola's back first. 3) When they left, the Mariner didn't care about Gregor, Helen, or Enola and he couldn't catch Gregor anyway with his boat torn up. 4) The Smokers did try to shoot the airship down with the gunship, but they got distracted shooting one of their own people down, giving Gregor time to escape. The plane may not have had a gunner in at the moment. It was being used to tow the skiers.
Answer: 1. He's lying to the drifter so he doesn't have to explain how he was down there so long. 2. He certainly had time to fix it between the escape from the atoll and the Smoker attack.

To fix his boat after escaping from the Atoll attack, Mariner said he needed resin.
