Stupidity: Neither Joel, Tommy nor Sarah think to put on their seatbelts or tell someone else to during the car ride in the prologue, even as things start and get increasingly dangerous and likely to result in a crash (which it does). They're all young enough to have grown up with seatbelts and, in Sarah's case, cars that sound alarms if someone isn't wearing a seatbelt. Had Joel or Sarah worn belts, they could have recovered from the crash far better and possibly averted Sarah's death.

Factual error: Gasoline expires in a matter of months, but throughout the game, not only do numerous characters drive cars, but siphon gas out of ones that have been sitting derelict for years, and restart generators that date back to the start of the outbreak about 20 years ago.
