Die Hard (1988)

Factual error: Would pulling the alarm call the fire and police departments if the phone lines were disabled?

Suggested correction: While I'm not sure how the alarms contact the fire department, it's also important to note that when Karl cuts the phone lines, his brother is re-routing some of the lines. I believe the implication is that he was bypassing certain lines so that way emergency services and the phone company wouldn't get alerts that their phones lines were down at the plaza and send people to check it out. So it would makes sense to me that a fire alarm could still get a signal through the phone lines in that case. (I'm also presuming that the way the fire alarm sends its signal is different from how a phone call is made, since one is automated and not call-based).

The Mechanic (2011)

Factual error: Lead bullets don't spark to ignite gasoline. Neither do copper jacketed bullets. The shot to the gasoline scene is purely Hollywood (or in this case, New Orleans) theatrics.

Death Wish (2018)

Factual error: When Kersey finds his throw down gun and proceeds to practice with it, a bullet ricochets back at him. Lead will reflect off objects and continue in the same general direction or flatten out on a surface but will not bounce back at you. If it did, indoor shooting ranges would kill all of their patrons on a daily basis.

The Notebook (2004)

Factual error: When Allie goes back to see Noah and he asks her if she's hungry, he "catches" dinner. He picks up a crab net with about a half dozen blue crabs in it. Anyone who has ever crabbed, knows you have to pick the net up fast and keep pressure on the crabs or they will exit the net on the way up. Noah picks up the net so slow, there is no way he'd have caught any crabs in it. It is obviously filled with staged crabs.

You Again (2010)

Factual error: When Jamie Lee Curtis drops the earring down the drain, she panics and kicks the pea trap off the drain. This causes water to spew from the pipes which is possible if she accidentally kicked the water pipe but when she replaces the pea trap by hand, the water cuts off which would not happen, as the drain has nothing to do with running water.

Factual error: The military cannot be used to help execute civilian law except during emergencies. Rambo could, I guess, be considered an emergency however, once the national guard was called out, they would have had jurisdiction over the Podunk police department. When Brian Denehy told them to wait for them, and then subsequently to clean up their mess, he would not have been in charge at that point.
