Trivia: At the very end of the very last of the credits at the end of the movie there is a brief outtake featuring the official at the dockside.

Continuity mistake: After young Donna and Bill are swimming back to the boat, Donna climbs up into the deck wearing a full face mask. In the long shot we see her turn around still wearing the mask. In the very next shot she sits down but the mask has vanished completely.

Trivia: In the opening dance sequence in the school hall, one of the teachers on the stage is Bjorn Ulvaeus, a former member of ABBA who co wrote the music.

Trivia: At the end of the opening dance sequence when the students run outside and dance on the deck of a narrow boat, the boat is called Chiquitita, which is a song by ABBA.

Continuity mistake: When Churchill is delivering his first speech on May 13th, Neville Chamberlain places a handkerchief on his leg to use as a signal to his fellow MPs. During the speech you can see Chamberlain sitting a few places away from Churchill but the handkerchief is missing. Then, a short while later in the same scene, the handkerchief is back with Chamberlain's hand over it.

Continuity mistake: When young Saroo is taken to the flat for food and drink by the woman, the level of liquid in the bottle of soda changes from shot to shot.

Factual error: In one of the train carriages there are mobile phone charging points which were not available in the mid 1980s.

Continuity mistake: After Rita and Eddie's fridge is repossessed they are arguing outside their flat. On the wall outside their neighbours' flat there is a wheeled trolley or pushchair hanging on the wall. This disappears and then reappears several times during this sequence of the film.

Other mistake: When Stephen Hawking's life is played backwards and then rewinds at the end of the film, the sequence of his sudden illness at the concert and subsequent operation at the hospital are the wrong way round. It should show him having the operation, then winding back to his collapse at the concert, but the two events are in the wrong reverse order.

Continuity mistake: Soon after Jane meets Stephen at the beginning of the film she writes her telephone number on a napkin. Later when he looks at the number it is written much more clearly.
