Continuity mistake: Before dinner as they stand on the porch talking Cathy smiles and looks up at Melanie. In the next shot she's looking down at the ground. (00:32:20)

Continuity mistake: When we first see the table with the food on it the sandwiches in the middle are piled up in interlocking stacks of three with one more pile of three or four sandwiches rising in the center. When we see the sandwiches again up close as Mitch brings the little girl into the house, they are neatly stacked above each other though not interlocking as before and the middle pile is not there. Continuity mistake: Before Lydia walks into Mr. Faucet's room she looks to her left and her face is entirely illuminated by the light coming from his room. In the next shot as she walks in only the left side of her face is illuminated. (01:00:10)

Continuity mistake: Before the birds fly out of the fireplace Mitch puts his napkin on the table to his right with the dark green side up. As the birds fly out of the fireplace the napkin has been flipped over to the light green side without being touched. (00:54:30)

Continuity mistake: As she carries the birthday cake out from the house, the position of Lydia's necklace changes between shots. (00:51:50)

Continuity mistake: Before the birds fly out of the fireplace Lydia sits on the couch and there are two pillows behind her a red one on the left and a green one on the right. She doesn't move from the spot but two shots later as the birds fly into the room the pillows are reversed. (00:54:25)

Continuity mistake: Doodles Weaver changes from looking at the boat to looking at Melanie's pocketbook between shots before she walks down the ladder. (00:20:05)

Continuity mistake: The top magazine piled on the table to the left of Lydia is seen protruding out over the edge in front of the others. It's moved back after the birds fly out of the fireplace. (00:54:30)

Continuity mistake: The house has only one gazebo and when the first bird swoops down at Cathy it flies over a different gazebo from the one we see later in the scene. The top is pointed and higher, and the correct one has a tree above almost touching it and shadows from the tree falling on it. (00:52:00)

Continuity mistake: As he places the table over the opening of the fireplace Mitch's hands change position between shots. In the second shot he's holding the leg of the table, in the first he's not. (00:55:15)

Continuity mistake: After Melanie hangs up the phone she sits and ponders whether to go to Cathy's party, on the desk to the left of the phone is the cigarette lighter that Annie left there before after she lit her cigarette. Next to it is a pack of cigarettes that she didn't leave there before. If you look closely earlier as she takes the cigarette out of the pack in the left pocket of her nightgown the lighter is in her right hand, the cigarette in her left and the pack stays in her pocket. Continuity mistake: There are two red books on the living room table next to Mitch's napkin. No one goes near them but later in this scene when everyone has left and the birds are flying around Mitch's dinner plate is there but the red books are not. (00:54:45 - 00:56:10)

Continuity mistake: As Lydia calls Fred Brinkmeyer about the chickens, notice the lamp and candle to the left of the phone. When Mitch uses this lamp later to tie the shutter closed it and the candlestick holder next to it are moved 90 degrees so that they are facing against the wall. (00:33:40)

Continuity mistake: As Melanie approaches Mitch's dock, a yellow pole extends from the far left side of the dock to the brown pail in the front of the dock. In the next shot, as she walks on the dock, the pole is gone. (00:21:35)

Continuity mistake: As she cleans up after dinner Lydia says, "Then you knew Mitch in San Francisco". The drapes right over her head are pushed back more between the two shots. (00:35:45)

Continuity mistake: At the house Mitch's white car is parked facing the water. When we see it later it's parked at a 45-degree angle to the water but he hasn't touched it. (00:21:20 - 00:23:35)

Continuity mistake: Melanie leaves the oar of the boat leaning against the rear seat. Later when she comes back to the boat, the oar is lifted up and sitting on the middle and rear seat. (00:21:50 - 00:23:10)

Continuity mistake: When Annie capped up the brandy bottle the label was facing the camera and her glass was almost touching it. Later when she goes back to poor a glass for herself the label is turned 90 degrees and she has to reach for the glass. (00:43:00)

Continuity mistake: In her room Melanie has the green dress hanging to the left of the mirror over the sink. When she returns to that spot after looking out the window, the dress has been moved. (00:58:20)

Continuity mistake: When Mitch takes Melanie to try to get help after she is hit by the gull the first door they come upon says, "out to lunch". If you look closely as they walk up to the door they're in bright sunlight but in the next shot as they get to the door it's overcast. (00:26:10)
