Continuity mistake: When the doctor is testing Oliver's lung capacity with a large balloon, the balloon bursts and Stan is sitting on a chair which overturns. At this point, you can see there is lettering on the bottom of the chair, but in the next shot, the lettering has disappeared.
Trivia: This was Laurel & Hardy's last film produced by the Hal Roach studio.
Trivia: The title "Saps at Sea" parodies a popular Gary Cooper film of the era, "Souls at Sea."
