Factual error: In the scene right after pinback shoots the beach-ball alien, we see the Dark Star space craft cruising past a planet with a sun in the background. You can see a reflection on the planet which is coming from the space craft. I'm sorry, but usually ships in space are not large enough to reflect off a planet, especially to the degree this one does. (00:48:20)

Dark Star (1974)
Directed by: John Carpenter
Starring: Dan O'Bannon, Brian Narelle, Cal Kuniholm, Dre Pahich
Revealing mistake: When Pinback is hanging from the lift, just before he decides to undo the bolts, you can see a piece of wood supporting his back. (00:43:00)
Continuity mistake: As Pinback puts the fruit down in front of the alien, its feet and spots change position. (00:28:50)
Bomb#20: In the beginning, there was darkness. And the darkness was without form, and void.
Boiler: What the hell is he talking about?
Bomb#20: And in addition to the darkness there was also me. And I moved upon the face of the darkness. And I saw that I was alone. Let there be light.
Doolittle: Don't give me any of that intelligent life crap, just give me something I can blow up.
Question: Not many people have even seen this classic, but i'll give it a go. On the DVD, when the crew are in the food store/bedroom, you can see that there are several pin-ups of girls on the wall behind them which have been blurred out. I can't see why the censors would be so fastitious about something which is hard to notice, let alone offend anyone - does anyone have any idea why they might do such a thing?
Question: On the death of Commander Powell, wouldn't Lieutenant Doolittle have been promoted to commander?
Answer: Just because he was forced to take command doesn't guarantee him a promotion.

Answer: It was done to get the film a 'G' / 'U' rating.
