Revealing mistake: When Stan and Oliver are working with the road gang, Oliver's hat falls off and Stan impales it with his pick. When Stan moves Oliver's hat around, you can see holes in the hat from previous takes.

Revealing mistake: When the governor and warden reverse the car back into the paint truck at the end of the film, watch carefully and you can see the two barrels of whitewash tip over before the impact.

Continuity mistake: When Stan and Oliver are fighting outside the prison, Oliver kicks the warden in the backside who then turns around. You can see that there is a guard behind the warden when he turns around, but when we see the warden in the next shot, the guard has disappeared.

Trivia: When Stan and Oliver are working with the road gang, Stan nicks Oliver in the rear with his pickaxe. The pickaxe that Stan Laurel was using was a real one and Oliver Hardy received a nasty cut to his rear.
