Revealing mistake: On the collapsing bridge, when the Phantom saves the kid, they swing on a rope hanging from the middle of the bridge. From a wide angle, it's very obvious that there is no possible way whatsoever that the short rope reaches the safe edge of the cliff. When the angle changes to the edge of the cliff, the rope is suddenly hanging from somewhere right above the edge.

Sala: The Phantom helped Diana to escape. I think he's in love with her.
Xander Drax: Oh really? This is getting more interesting by the minute. Why do you say that?

Trivia: The film was originally written as a bit of a comedic spoof of superhero and adventure stories by "Gremlins" director Joe Dante and famed screenwriter Jeffrey Boam. Dante was planning on directing it. However, the movie was paused due to budget concerns, and Dante left the project. When it was put back into production, the script was re-written by several ghost writers, and director Simon Wincer decided to play the comedy 100% straight, which original director Dante felt was a huge mistake.
