Continuity mistake: When the trick-or-treaters come to the Perrys' door, Phillip's mom ushers her children back into the house. They obey immediately, but when the camera angle changes the girls are back where they were and leave again. (00:02:30)

Plot hole: There's a number of strange things about Butch's and Terry's escape: When the grid falls down the very loud noise passes unnoticed. After they climb down the tied bedsheets Butch pulls once and it comes down, although no-one tied it loose. And finally, their escape route ended within the prison walls, and they needed to kidnap the clerk, who had come back into the prison to get some papers, for the escape in his car, something which wasn't planable at all. Continuity mistake: When Butch kidnaps Phillip he grabs him with his left hand, holding his gun in the right hand. When he leaves the house Phillip and the gun have switched places. (00:12:40)

Other mistake: When Butch steals the clothes and the Ford, Phillip pees for almost two minutes, which is OK for an elderly man with a malfunctioning prostate but not for a healthy 8-year old boy, not even after an overdose of RC Cola. (00:39:20)

Continuity mistake: When Butch and Phillip go past the police trailer Sally spots the Casper costume. In this shot the relative movement of both vehicles is shown far too slow. (00:57:20)

Continuity mistake: When Butch and Phillip reach the end of the tarred road they stop directly in front of a signpost. Towards the end of the scene there are some shots where the distance to the post is at least five meters, and also from the position of the steering wheel one can tell that the car has been moved in between. Continuity mistake: After Phillip has tricked-and-treated the old lady she closes the screen door behind her. When the camera angle changes and he says thank you the screen is open again. (01:05:20)
