Trivia: Even though the film is entitled "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes", the word "Tarzan" is never actually mentioned in the film. The Ape Man is referred to as either "Lord Greystoke" or "John."

Trivia: The dialogue of Andie MacDowell (Jane) was dubbed in post-production by Glenn Close.

Trivia: Ralph Richardson, who played the Sixth Earl of Greystoke, died shortly after filming had ended, and he received a posthumous Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The film was dedicated to his memory.
