The Pirates! Band of Misfits

Factual error: The pirates' map shows a drawing of Tower Bridge, which Pirate Captain sees through the telescope moments later. Construction of Tower Bridge started in 1886, and it was completed in 1894. Queen Victoria was 73 when Tower Bridge was completed, whereas she is in her late twenties or mid thirties here. The sign setting the film in 1837 also makes no sense given this timeline. (00:25:20)

PEDAUNT

Factual error: When the Pirates and Darwin land in London, the Pirates disguise themselves as Girl Guides, but Robert Baden Powell didn't found the Girl Guides until 1910, over 70 years after the film is set.

Heather Benton

Factual error: When the captain sleeps in Darwin's house, first half 19th century, the bedroom appears to have electric light that uses a modern light switch. It's somewhat unlikely that this would be completely accidental, but since it serves no evident purpose for the story: mistake.

Pirate Captain: Behind every captain, there's a crew. Sure, some of you are as ugly as a sea cucumber, some of you are closer to being a chair or coat rack than a pirate, and some of you are fish I've just dressed up in a hat.

Trivia: When The Pirate King learns of Pirate Captain's royal pardon, he exclaims, "Is this true?" in exactly the same way that Richard IV does in 'The Foretelling'; the first episode of Blackadder Series 1. Both The Pirate King and Richard IV were portrayed by Brian Blessed.
