Continuity mistake: In the scene when Dalton's father is at work, on the blackboard behind him you can see a face from the movie Saw drawn. In the next shot, the face is erased.

Suggested correction: If by "in the next shot" you meant the scene when Josh dismisses his class, the Billy puppet face is not erased in the shots facing Josh, we just don't see the left side of the blackboard. Note, in wide shots and side shots, to the right of the Billy face we can make out the erased words "new deal" and 2 vertical squiggly lines (map-type drawing). In the shots facing Josh we still see those vertical lines and the word "deal" but the Billy face is simply offscreen, to the left.

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Dalton screams after falling off the ladder, when Josh runs to the attic to make sure he is alright his shirt is untucked with no tie. However when in the attic his shirt is buttoned with a tie.

Trivia: The main demon was actually played by the film's composer, Joseph Bishara. The child actors involved in the film found him incredibly frightening while in the full demon makeup and prosthetics. Director James Wan tried introducing the children to Bishara so they wouldn't be scared anymore, but even after meeting him and realizing he was a nice, quiet, friendly man... every time he would put the makeup on and start acting, they would become frightened and start crying.

Question: When Josh is in the further looking for Dalton, what is the deal with the family that looks like mannequins and has the creepy smiles? Why does the one girl shoot the family? Is there any back story on it?

Answer: It's implied that the girl went crazy and killed her family, but it's not really elaborated on. They're just some of the many spirits to be trapped in and haunt the Further, likely due to the violent nature of their deaths.

Answer: They are just people trapped in the further after their terrible death. It would be nice to later find out the back story on them in a future film.
