Murakami (Toshiro Mifune) recovers his gun and captures Yusa. Murakami talks with Sato (Takashi Shimura) at the hospital and he congratulates Murakami on receiving his first citation. Sato tells Murakami that he shouldn't feel so guilty about having his gun stolen because the search for it yielded good results such as arresting Yusa and a few other criminals. Sato gives some advice to Murakami and tells him that he shouldn't get emotionally attached to his job and that this first case is just the beginning of his career.
