Factual error: There are mountains in the background in several of the scenes, but there aren't actually any mountains in or near St Louis.
Factual error: When Judy Garland is walking around with the neighbor from next door turning down the gas lights throughout the house, the first gas chandelier in the living room that they turn off has a regular light bulb worked with a black plastic switch. (00:39:00)
Suggested correction: The Smith family has electricity only in their living room in 1903. The large gasolier has had its lower set of arms converted to electric lamps. Esther turns these off with the wall switch next to the door and then she hands the gas lighter to John to reach up and turn out the gas jets. All of the other gasoliers and wall brackets are burning gas as well - you can see the flames and also turn out throughout the scenes. The wall light switch is missing in other scenes.
