The Last of the Mohicans

Deliberate mistake: Rhododendrons, visible in the opening scene and mentioned specifically in the shooting script, do not grow in the Adirondacks.

Suggested correction: Several varieties of rhododendrons absolutely grow in the Adirondacks and are native to the region. Rhododendrons are native as far north as Nova Scotia.

Other mistake: In the final scene, just after the death of Magua, you can hear a small dog (perhaps one owned by a cast, or crew member, but unlikely to be a breed out in the wilderness away from human shelter) barking. (01:46:20)

Question: What happened to the other Redcoats who were in the canoes during the escape from the ambush? By the time they send the canoes over the waterfall and retreat to the cave, only the six of them are left.

Answer: Major Hayward is supporting one of the soldiers as they enter the cave. After they make their way down the rocks, he puts the soldier down on the ground. The other soldier appears to be killed by one of Magua's gang.
