P.S. I Love You

Continuity mistake: After Gerry gets smacked in the face by the 'broken' suspender clasp, we see the silver clasp land under the dresser. Yet, when he's moaning and lifting his leg to get onto the bed, we can actually see the clasp still intact on the front suspender that came loose, which is dangling right behind him (just look between his legs). Of course, in the next shot, that clasp is gone. Since the silver clasp is one of the plot points, this is bizarre to say the least.

Continuity mistake: Near the start, when Gerry comes back into the apartment after the fight, his suspenders are off, but in the next shot as Holly jumps over the couch his suspenders are on, only to be off again once she's in Gerry's arms.

Continuity mistake: After Holly and Gerry’s argument near the start, when Gerry begins his little dance in boxers, as he removes his leather jacket one of the back suspender clasps comes undone. When he lies down beside Holly, both back clasps are on properly.

Continuity mistake: When the dry cleaning arrives and Holly lays it out on the table, right behind her is the large flip-over wall hanging, with a picture of balloons. When she pulls the leather jacket out of the plastic, the wall hanging is flipped open to a picture of a bird.

Visible crew/equipment: When Holly and Sharon are showing the apartment to the couple, just as Sharon says, "I think if you offer another hundred grand, they'll back right down," the reflection of a moving boom mic is visible in the center window between Holly and Ted.

Continuity mistake: Having just arrived at the house in Ireland, when Sharon is about to walk into the kitchen, in the shot facing the sink we can see the vase of flowers on the wood table, right beside the envelope. In the shot facing Sharon there is a white tablecloth under the vase.

Continuity mistake: At karaoke, in the flashback, when Gerry is on stage asking, "Who wants a shot?" he's holding a drink in his right hand. Next shot, facing the audience, he's pointing to individuals with his empty right hand, but next shot the glass is back in his hand.

Continuity mistake: After returning from Ireland, when Holly hears Denise's phone message she throws the remote at her dresser and knocks over the frame face down. When she walks to the dresser the frame is now face up. Jewelry differs as well.

Other mistake: When Holly and Daniel are at Yankee Stadium, the seat numbers in the rows behind them are not consistent from row to row.

Continuity mistake: While William is in the shower, Holly finishes the dishes and folds the towel neatly then places it on the bowl, but that towel messes and rights itself and the utensils move in the following shots.

Continuity mistake: In Ireland, Holly and William are drinking in the kitchen. Between shots, the amount of liquid in Holly's glass changes.

Deliberate mistake: After the broken suspender clasp smacks Gerry in the face, in the close-up it lands under the dresser, within the wide strip of light reflection. In all other shots the entire area beneath the dresser is in shadow.

Continuity mistake: When Gerry and Holly first meet, she says, "I'll never forget this," and the leather jacket is completely unbuttoned. When Holly remembers that she's wearing his jacket it's suddenly half buttoned up, just as Brody, the 'wild Irish dog' runs towards them.

Continuity mistake: When Holly picks up the shoe with Gerry's silver suspender clasp, the picture frame is upright with the phone behind it. When she turns the shoe around to examine it, the frame is lying flat on its back, with the phone in front of it.

Continuity mistake: At the Irish Famine Memorial, when Daniel says, "I think you're a little bit perverted," regarding the corned beef sandwiches, Holly's handbag dangles from her left arm, but next shot it's on her right arm.

Continuity mistake: When Holly sings with Judy Garland, she has a "pimple" on her forehead. When Sharon gives Holly a manicure, the skin on Holly's forehead is flawless in the close-up – not hidden under makeup.

Continuity mistake: At Gerry's funeral, the guests do shots to honor him, placing the glasses on top of the urn. However, when everyone is getting food and drinks after, the urn is shown in the background with the glasses neatly in front of it again.

Continuity mistake: When Holly visits Gerry's parents, there's a close-up of his letter to them. A moment later we can see the front of the letter, as his mum holds it, and the writing differs in relation to the Enniskerry Limo logo at the top.

Continuity mistake: When Holly and Daniel are in the small room at the back with alcohol, Daniel's hair continuously changes between shots.

Factual error: At the beginning of the movie, we find out that Holly and Gerri were married when she was 19. She then turns 30, so at least 11 years have passed since the day that they met. However, when Holly sees Gerri in the pub on the day that they meet, he sings "The Galway Girl". This song was not written by Steve Earl until 2000, and they must have met sometime around the year 1996.

Quotes

Gerry Kennedy: Dear Holly, I don't have much time. I don't mean literally, I mean you're out buying ice cream and you'll be home soon. But I have a feeling this is the last letter, because there is only one thing left to tell you. It isn't to go down memory lane or make you buy a lamp, you can take care of yourself without any help from me. It's to tell you how much you move me, how you changed me. You made me a man, by loving me Holly. And for that, I am eternally grateful... Literally. If you can promise me anything, promise me that whenever you're sad, or unsure, or you lose complete faith, that you'll try to see yourself through my eyes. Thank you for the honor of being my wife. I'm a man with no regrets. How lucky am I. You made my life, Holly. But I'm just one chapter in yours. There'll be more. I promise. So here it comes, the big one. Don't be afraid to fall in love again. Watch out for that signal, when life as you know it ends. P.S. I will always love you.
