Other mistake: When Amanda's driver brings her to the cottage for the first time, he tells her he can't drive her up there because he would not be able to turn around, but the same driver picks her up at the cottage when she is leaving and presumably has no issue turning around at all, and you can see it's a flat field in front of the cottage.

Other mistake: The wrong flag for Poland is shown when Amanda s going through the exchange countries at the beginning of the movie.

Other mistake: In the beginning scene when Amanda throws the first shoe at him it ends up behind him in the middle of the hallway. When she throws the second shoe at him it ends up at the top of the stairs where all of a sudden the first shoe is. When he enters the room there are no shoes at all. They even walk down the stairs without picking up his shoes.

Factual error: The cab from the airport taking Iris to Amanda's house is going through Malibu and heading southbound. Malibu is north of the airport so the cab is driving the wrong direction.

Amanda: You know, I was just thinking why would I ever leave before New Year's Eve? That makes no sense at all. I mean, you didn't exactly ask me out... but you did say you loved me... so I'm thinking I've got a date. If you'll have me.
Graham: I have the girls New Year's Eve.
Amanda: Sounds perfect.

Trivia: When Jack Black is singing the tune from "The Graduate" in the video store, the guy who tuts and gets annoyed is Dustin Hoffman, who starred in the Graduate. Apparently his cameo was unplanned, he noticed the cameras and stopped by, and it was decided he should make his small appearance.

Question: When Kate Winslet first gets home, she turns on the gas on one of the stove burners (but doesn't light it). As Cameron Diaz starts talking with her via the Internet, two of the burners are on, and she gets up and turns one of them off. If I'm not wrong, the other remains on and because of the fireplace would end up setting her house on fire. Or it might just be that the other burner was already on and burning to heat something. Could anyone please give a more certain answer about that?

Answer: Iris only turns on one burner without lighting it. When the Internet tone for getting a message sounds, Iris comes to her senses, turns off the unlit burner, opens the window and then answers Amanda's message.
