Arsène Lupin

Lupin finds the treasure and his father (Beaumagnan, who faked his death years ago when Lupin was a young boy and had his face altered) follows him. They fight on a ledge over the ocean and Lupin's father falls to his death. The Countess of Cagliostro fakes her death in prison, escapes, then kills Clarisse (Lupin's wife) and steals Lupin's baby son. Years later, in 1913, Lupin meets again with the Countess and his son, now grown up (raised by the Countess). The Countess and Lupin's son attempt to kill a French Duke but he is saved at the last minute by Lupin. After the assassination attempt fails, Lupin disappears.
