American History X

Danny is killed by the same black guy whose face he blew smoke in, in the bathroom. Derek has a sinking feeling something went wrong, and decides to go back to Danny's school. He finds his brother in the bathroom stall, bloodied, and holds him in his arm. A voiceover of Danny reads the conclusion of his paper, saying that despite being raised a racist, that "hate is baggage." Derek stays out of the D.O.C, from that moment on.

Trivia

The ending was originally different. After the scene where Derek is crying over Danny, it cut to Henry being arrested, then his family in the kitchen mourning him and saying he was a good boy, and then Derek shaving his head again while smiling. When Edward Norton read the script, he said "I thought the movie was supposed to be anti-Nazi." So the ending was soon changed.
