The Librarian: Quest for the Spear

Factual error: Flynn says that the chamber in the Mayan temple is "an exact replica of their great temple of Teotihuacan." But Teotihuacan was not a Mayan city, but rather the hub of a separate civilization (themselves called the Teotihuacan). It was in central Mexico, hundreds of miles from the Mayan area in the Yucatan Peninsula.

Factual error: Flynn says that the chamber in the Mayan temple is 300 quahuitls long. A quahuitl is approximately 2.5 meters, so 300 quahuitls would be 750 meters, or nearly half a mile. The chamber he and the others are in is large, but not that large.

Factual error: When Flynn presses the stones at the Mayan temple, he identifies the numbers that are carved on them. The stones do have the bars and dots of the vigecimal Mayan numerical system. However, he identifies the specific numbers incorrectly. For example, the stone that he claims says 65 actually has 180 imprinted on it.

Factual error: Flynn gives the size of the chamber in the Mayan temple as "300 quahuitls by 20 quahuitls." But the quahuitl was an Aztec unit of measurement, and was not used by the Maya. (01:06:00)

Character mistake: When Flynn opens the secret compartment in the Buddah, he pushes the signs for 'me' and 'e' to spell 'me'. But that is hardly how 'me' is spelled in that ancient language.

Jacob La Cour

Factual error: In the beginning the professor says that they have now built a 1:20 scale copy of the great pyramid including capstone. In the final fight, the pyramid contains a huge room inside - in the full height of the pyramid. But the Egyptian pyramids are (almost) solid.

Jacob La Cour

Character mistake: When Flynn is in the treetop in the jungle he says their position is minus X degrees latituded and minus Y degrees longitude. Positions are not indicated with minus - but North or South (of the Equator), and East or West (of Greenwich).

Plot hole: The plot that a piece of the Roman spear that pierced Christ ends up in a hidden Mayan temple in the Amazon (which is nevertheless still full of gold etc.) makes no sense.

Jacob La Cour

Other mistake: When in the Mayan temple Flynn pools out the book. It is completely intact and the pages are flat and even. A book which has been under water for a long time (during their swim) would not look like that.

Jacob La Cour

Continuity mistake: When Flynn and Nicole jump from the airplane it is just before sunrise. But when they land in the jungle, the sun is high in the sky (which you can tell by the shadows).

Jacob La Cour

Continuity mistake: Flynn was juggling with two golden eggs when the sword flew out of the rock. But after the sword came, they weren't seen again.

Jacob La Cour

Continuity mistake: In the opening scene, the capstone to the pyramid is lowered onto the two ropes holding it. In a clip a few minutes later, the ropes are gone.

Jacob La Cour

Character mistake: Flynn has been reading for a while, taking notes, spreading books around, etc. - when Nicole arrives and says that it was nice to watch take-off from the cockpit. The plane must have been in the air for a long time by then.

Jacob La Cour

Nicole Noone: No calls. They'll use the signal to triangulate our location.
Flynn Carsen: Well, that's against the law.
Nicole Noone: They just tried to kill you. You think they care about breaking phone-tapping regulations?
