Revealing mistake: During the scene where Travis is pinned down by Hatcher's men inside the bus in the town square, there is a brief cut to one of the sharpshooters, whose shoulder patch is reversed. (01:21:55)
Continuity mistake: After Beck has been shot with the bags, one bag is lying by his foot and the other a foot away from his chest. When it cuts, the one that was a foot from his chest is now lying about three feet from him. (00:08:15)
Continuity mistake: Towards the end The Rock fights with 3 guys using whips and he gets some large wounds on his face. When he delivers the kid back to his dad the wounds are gone.

Continuity mistake: In the jungle when Beck is handcuffing Travis he first takes Travis' arm behind Travis' neck. Then it cuts and both Travis' arms are behind his neck. When it cuts again both Travis' arms are behind his back being handcuffed. (00:30:20)
Continuity mistake: At the start of the scene where The Rock walks into the bar in Brazil for the first time, you see him put away his sunglasses in his jacket. Then, the camera gives a wider shot and he repeats the action. (00:20:45)
Answer: Yes, he says so in the movie. He explains that it gets too messy. Also, it shows that he is stronger than using an easy weapon like a gun. People like to see fist fighting, rather than gun fighting.
