Character mistake: When the group is escaping from the killer gorillas, they find a cave and Ross say "It's a geode, a giant diamond." A geode is not a diamond at all, it's basically a hollow rock with crystal formations inside.

Continuity mistake: When Munro and Dr. Ross talk to the borders cheif, the same people can be seen walking past the window behind him, multiple times.

Continuity mistake: When Homolka has to jump out of the plane, he first sticks his head out the door. The exterior shot shows that his left hand is holding onto the plane but not in the interior shots.

Continuity mistake: On the plane the drug is put into a broken banana half, but when it's time to jump out of the plane Amy is given a whole banana.

Suggested correction: I think it's safe to say they either put the banana halves back together to help hide the pill or erred on the side of caution and gave two doses in a second banana.

dizzyd

Continuity mistake: As the expedition sets out after collecting their parachuted gear, the scenery instantly changes from Savannah in the shot with Elliot and Munro to deep jungle in the shot with Amy and the chameleon.

Doc

Continuity mistake: In the meeting with captain Wanta, when the soldier takes Homolka and lift him, the pile of money is tumbled. When Wanta takes it, it's up again.

Other mistake: When in the jungle, Elliot says to Amy "Let's turn your volume down" and makes an adjustment to Amy's backpack voice synthesizer. A few seconds later Amy "speaks" at exactly the same volume as before.

Zephyr77

Revealing mistake: When the missile destroys the second airplane after everyone has escaped, the airplane suddenly stops moving forward. In the next shot where we see a close-up of the explosion, it is also stationary against the sky.

Monroe: Eddie! What happened to your head?
Eddie: Customs guy, whacked me in the head with a can of peanut oil for stamping visas. I'm never goin back to that country, man. Those people have permanently wigged out.

Trivia: According to Frank Marshall, the diamonds used in the movie were borrowed from Herkimer Diamond Mines in New York. However at the end of the movie, a diamond is thrown out of the balloon. This diamond actually ended up being lost and never found.

Question: What exactly does Richard die from? In a matter of seconds, he goes from running full-speed and screaming for help, only to suddenly fall over dead once he reaches Elliot. If it was from internal injuries, wouldn't it take longer for him to succumb to them, especially with how mobile he was shown to be?

Phaneron

Answer: Seconds after he drops dead, an ape comes from where he'd been running from and throws a human brain at the living humans. This is Richard's brain, torn from his head. In the context of the film and employing a (fair) bit of suspension of disbelief, he must have had enough brain stem (where reflexes are governed) left to run and scream a bit before dropping dead. In reality, of course, this is an extremely unlikely if not impossible scenario, invented by the screenwriter for the purposes of a gruesome death. Perhaps inspired by stories like Mike the Headless Chicken, an animal which survived for months after having most of its head/brain chopped off.

That wasn't a brain that the gorilla threw; it was the head of one of the two porters with whom Richard remained outside the cave.
