Continuity mistake: When Sy is following Nina and Jake after he put the picture of the husband cheating in with Jake's pictures, the cars pull over to the side of the road. If you watch when they pull over, you see that they pull over next to a down sloping hill that is nicely green with grass and a few sporadic trees. But when they show Sy's car in the rearview mirror, you see that they are now pulled next to a large up sloping hill that is covered in leaves, dirt, and a lot of trees. (00:53:40)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Sy is giving the toy to Jake after the soccer game near his car, he hands the toy to Jake and Jake says he can't accept it etc. Then we see Sy put the toy back in the Savmart bag, but when the shot changes the toy is still in his hands, not in the bag. (00:35:05)
Continuity mistake: Near the middle when Sy is imagining he is in the Yorkin's home, he is sitting on the couch watching a ballgame. Behind the couch is a tall white square sculpture. Sy turns to the dog and says, "Good game." When the camera goes back to Sy, look behind the couch, the sculpture has disappeared. But when you see the Yorkins come in the door, and the camera goes back to Sy on the couch, the sculpture has reappeared. (00:30:15)
Continuity mistake: When Sy's boss is looking at the pictures of his girl on his lawn that Sy took, the pictures get closer and closer, zooming in between shots. Recalling back to the scene in which he took the shots, there was a close up on the camera as it took picture after picture. If he were zooming in further with each successive shot, the lens would have popped out a little further after each shot. It did not. (00:58:45 - 01:01:10)
Continuity mistake: As Sy is flipping through the photos at the yard sale, there is a twin photo of a guy in a sailor's uniform with the following shot of him wearing a sailors cap. Its in the right column of the photo box. When he gets to the photo of the kid in a chair pulling an funny face, you can't see the second photo of the sailor anymore. The following shot its back to normal but it is now angled to the left instead of the right to begin with. Towards the end of the scene you once again can't see the second photo. While the scene he is searching through photos and may have pushed it, its not likely as the photos he was looking through were all near the front of the pile and the sailor photo was more towards the back of the box. (00:27:00)
Continuity mistake: When Sy returns to the mall to reveal his photos after talking to the manager, you can see a black man carrying a bag walking behind him, a second later the angle changes angle and the man is about 2 or 3 meters away from Sy. (00:59:05)
Continuity mistake: As Sy is developing Nina Yokin's birthday party negative the film canister shown has the green and white Fuji colors and layout. When Sy holds the processed negatives up to the light to view the exposures the film information along the side of the strip indicates the film is Kodak Portra 400VC. (00:06:50)
Continuity mistake: Near the start of the film when Nina and Jake are driving to the mall, Jake points to an open parking space to his right. Nina starts to turn the steering wheel to the right but the next shot shows the car turning left into the space. (00:04:10)
Continuity mistake: As Sy is watching tv (just before he turns onto The Simpsons) there is a glass of coke on the sidetable sitting on a napkin. The next shot its moved a bit to the left almost next to the napkin. (00:17:05)
Continuity mistake: When Sy is looking through the photos at the yard sale, a different person's hand is used in one of the close-ups; it's obviously a different thumb than in the previous and following shots. This happens again later in close-ups of Sy's hands as well. (00:27:00)
Factual error: The Point & Shoot Camera Sy uses throughout the movie (Minolta Freedom Zoom 150) has a lit in-viewfinder readout. The real camera does not have any fancy readout, just a thin circle to help center and frame your image.
Continuity mistake: Whilst Will and Nina are fighting in the kitchen you can see there is not much light on Will in shots of him. A bit later in the scene after Nina has left the kitchen you can see there is a lot more light on Will than there was before. It is easy to see the difference as before Will's jersey and his face are quite dark. After Nina leaves, you can see a small shadow from his head on his jersey and his face looks looks brighter from the light. It couldn't be a change in where he is standing from the lights in the kitchen as there is no overhead light where he is standing. (00:15:45 - 00:17:00)
Factual error: When Sy is watching the Simpsons in his apartment, the clips we see, while all from the same episode, are spaced further apart than what we see. [Some people say they're from different episodes - a mistake regardless.] (00:17:05)
Continuity mistake: Sy the photo guy returns to his car to find a crack down the center of his windshield. Later on, as he is parking in front of his apartment downtown, the crack is not there anymore. (00:12:50)
Continuity mistake: In the SavMart aisle titled "Music", there is a closeup with the store manager standing near the aisle, showing that it is actually laundry detergent. (00:08:45 - 00:22:10)
Other mistake: Sy enters the SavMart (after being fired) with a large photo envelope in his hand, and the boss who fired him confronts him about going elsewhere to process his photos, and they get into it. Then Sy pushes past him, and in the next shot, walks right up to the photo counter, when in all previous scenes, the photo lab was at the back of the store.
Answer: There is a line from the cop at the very beginning of the film in the interview room with Cy "We processed the roll of film we found in your bag Mr. Parish, they're not very pretty pictures. Also you left a camera in the hotel, we processed that roll as well. "As he talks about the second roll he indicates the folder containing the photos we see at the end. Therefore we can assume the "not very pretty photos" found on the roll of film in the bag are the lewd ones of the pretend sex acts. Whether he left the other ones behind as a cover or what he intended to do with the lewd ones we can but guess.
