Continuity mistake: Lolita goes into Humbert's room and she is chewing gum. She then sits on Humbert's lap and sticks her gum on a piece of paper on his desk. A couple of shots later, she is chewing gum again.

Humbert (Jeremy Irons) stays in a house. The landlord is Charlotte Haze (Melanie Griffith) and Humbert becomes obsessed with her daughter Dolores (who is the lolita). Humbert marries Charlotte, and when Dolores went to a camp. Charlotte finds out that Humbert doesn't like her at all and is actually interested in Dolores. Charlotte gets killed by a car accident. Humbert (as a stepfather by now) takes Dolores and they go for a road trip.
Humbert: I missed you. I missed you a lot.
Lolita: Well I haven't missed you. In fact, I've been revoltingly unfaithful to you. But it doesn't matter, because you don't care about me anymore anyway.
Humbert: What makes you think I don't care about you?
Lolita: Well you haven't kissed me yet, have you?
Trivia: In all the scenes where Jeremy Irons and Dominique Swain had physical contact, Jeremy Irons had to wear a pillow on his lap since Swain was underage at the time of filming.
